I have used several of these in the past with good results . When in doubt you can always safety wire the tap.

Easy to wire it....frankly, I have trouble getting it open when I WANT it to open. The spring is that strong.

So why do I use it then you ask? .....no wrench...no cross thread issues....no gasket replacement... And at car shows when people see it, it is always a conversation piece

I bought one for my diesel truck. I drained the oil out, put the valve in, changed the filter, and poured in 10 quarts of 15W40 Royal Purple. The drain was in the open position.... DOH!

the clip is just a hose spring clip to place over the valve handle to hold it down. it is recommended - according for them - for extreme industrial or farm applications where something might hit the valve.

I've used Fumoto for years, never had a problem, do not see the need. Once you get one and play with it you'll see that accidental opening would be difficult.

Unhappily...there's no way I can see using one on my 07 ... the straight down drain means this would stick straight down an inch from the pan....bad bad bad. But, I haven't heard a GEN2 owner yet describe any of the horror stories common with GEN1 for stripped/unremovable bungs. Once I change my own oil on the 07 I'll let ya know if I change my mind tho.
Ok thanks a lot. I just ordered my valve yesterday from Moss and i know ill be getting some type of extra security because you can never be to careful with that sorta thing.
Also my boss claims he bought one from autozone for his truck or something, and apprently he didnt like it because it drained "REALLY REALLY" slow. I know you say you had no problems but i figured I would ask. Thanks

Haha thanks, finay after two years! But really it is the greatest purchase on my car and I'm not kidding. I have convinced all of my friends to get it and those who don't hate it when we change our oil at the same time because it takes me half the time.

The site mentions that your car has to have enough ground clearance...but I don't really see this as being a problem.

MOSS is selling them under their new products on the website, but they're not selling the nipple ones. I'm planning on buying direct.

So does anyone have any thoughts on these?
many folks love um .mine will go on next oil change . i wouldnt do the jeep if you wheel it . just me .

I've used them on my 02 MINI and diesel truck for years
(yes, pulley went on first)
I have an extra--when I ordered for my diesel, then sent me the wrong one--fits my MINI though

I'll post it for $25 on the for sale site
I think this one does not have the nipple, so no clearance issues

Had one of these on my Mini for three years, nipple version. Not a single issue to speak of.

How about 5 years later thanks I have had one on my 99F250 for 5 years and love it. Just ordered a 106S (short nipple) for my new-to-me 2006 MCS after validating in this thread that it's a reasonable thing to do.

Okay, I've been doing the search and am about to pull the trigger on the Fumoto F108 valve with the nipple. I realise this is an old thread, but I have 2 questions:

1. Has anyone been unlucky enough to have an unfortunate incident with the valve?

2. Is the nipple part removable? It appears to simply thread into the valve...I'm sure if you unscrew it (or does it already come unscrewed?), then you could find a bung to stick in the hole to keep dust out. That would help with clearance fears, right?

TIA

Mike

I bought one for my 2005 S and the valve hit the power steering fan bracket. It wouldn't tighten in a position to not rest against it and I didn't seem easy to bend the fan. It didn't seem like a good ideal to have the fan resting on it and putting constant pressure on it, so I just put it on another car.

Your sig says a 12 right? IMO the Fumoto would be a BIG mistake on a GEN2 ... the drain faces straight down hence the valve will protrude down beyond the bottom of the pan. It begs to get knocked off . . . which is why the OE plug does not even have a hex head but is a recessed fitting . . .

On a GEN1 the drain faces to the rear and the Fumoto does not protrude lower than the pan . . .
