Key chip reprogramming?
Key chip reprogramming?
I have second key for my MINI that I programmed to open/close doors, etc via instructions found here but the chip needs to be reprogrammed to start the car - is there any way to do that outside of paying the dealer?
No, I think that MINI owns the proprietary software for reprogramming. Especially to match a key to a car. Theft issue and all that. Well-guarded secret (unless some Black Hat out there has hacked the system, and they probably aren't tellin')
Bought a key in Denver
I just bought a key from the dealer here in Denver for my new used 2006 MC CVT. $189.00 for a laser cut key, not a bad price for that kind of key. The SA at Ralph Schomp MINI set my new key up in less than a minute by doing something with the new key in the car. No charge and no hassle, just what I expected to happen after I spent MONEY with them.
