Drivers side window didn't work

When I was going out yesterday, I tried rolling down all of my windows. The passengers side worked fine, the sunroof worked fine, but for some reason, the drivers side window would not go down. I tried the switch a few times and nothing. I noticed there was a clicking that seemed to come from the radio when I tried rolling it down. I had opened & closed the door a few times and it wound up working finally. It sounds like a connection is loose. Anyone have any ideas? Please let me know. Thanks in advance!

PS: I did recently change the front speakers. Maybe I hit something while I was in there?

Try hitting just above the speaker

I had the same problem. Hold the window switch either up or down and then hitting the door panel between the door handle and the speaker. Hit it like it kicked your dog. The brushes get gummed up with the dust generated by running the window motor, and hitting the door breaks the dust loose so the motor brushes make contact again.

So in other words you need to call "The Fonz" to fix your window?

I had this happen to my 03 and it was discussed on here. I had the drivers side replaced under warranty but the passengers side went out a few weeks after warranty and was very expensive to replace.

Someone replied that they took the panel off and oiled the mechanism and all way fine. So there might be a cheaper solution other than a replacement. On the other hand, if you're still under warranty you might want to have this replaced.

I understand it's a problem even with Bimmers.
