Aftermarket warranty policies

I've got an R56 but I'm sure R53 owners are more familiar with this. I didn't buy the extended warranty from Mini because it was so expensive. With my 05 Mazda3 the dealer pitched it at like $2500 and when I said no cut the price to less than half (made me feel like I was at a timeshare tour!). If anyone has bought a 3rd party extended warranty for their Mini who'd you get it from and how much was it? My experience has been that (like window tinting) it's all farmed out to a 3rd party anyway after the factory warranty expires, just a question of who. I think on my Jeep GC the policy was sold to another company after I bought it (like a mortgage).

I have the Audi extended warranty on my '04 Audi Allroad, and I would not buy a 3rd party warranty extension, I've seen too many of those companies go under leaving people exposed. If they do go under, the only liability they have is to refund a prorated amount of the warranty cost, which is not what you paid for it. Bottom line, it's not for me.........

I will buy a factory sponsored warranty on the bet that the MFR will still be in business when I need them, even if the warranty company isn't, so I still have someone with deep pockets whose feet I can hold to a fire to get my claim paid.

I bought an 01 Jeep GC demo from the dealer, with an extended warranty. When I used it at the dealer for a brake issue I found out that it was issued from a 3rd party. Later the 3rd party notified me that I was now insured with a different company, but my warranty benefits were unchanged. I used that one for seat heater problems. I just wondered if anyone had gone down this road with their Mini.

are you talking about a maintenance warranty or repair warranty? MINI doesn't offer an extended repair (mechanical) warranty and if you're offered one at the dealer it's a 3rd party anyhow. i JUST went through all the research on my 03. i'm in socal so the company i went through is not applicable to you as california has some really STUPID "consumer protection" laws.

maintenance warranty i'm not sure about.

if you're looking for a mechanical warranty in AZ- mba direct is pretty good but, are not fond of mods. most warranty companies aren't though.

warranty direct and 5 star warranty are other good ones that have high ratings. all have payment installments to ease the pain. you will need to have the car inspected before they will extend a warranty to you. hide any mods- TRUST ME- THEY WILL DENY YOU OVER SOMETHING AS SMALL AS A CAI- i have had it happen.
