Fog light replacement

Will I need to remove my lower bumper to do this? I hit something on the highway that busted the plastic tabs. The light itself is intact.

I was told I need to buy the entire assembly even though it's only the plastic tabs that are broke.

The dealer is charging $170 for labor and $120 for the light. Is it worth it to just let them deal with this?

Any other alternatives?

Thanks.

Scott

I am not 100% sure mind you.

Take your fenderwell off. (this, I have done)
It gives easy access to the foglights.

I have had good luck with this method for a broken
tab (thankfully not on this car).

Push it back where it is supposed to go and have
something hold it (like a big screwdriver or jack handle
wedged against it and the ground). With a good pressure
holding it, glue it back with the little tube of tough as nails,
the clear kind, available at home depot.

I've had REALLY good results with that method for a variety
of car projects. It beats all other glues hands down.

If you have to adjust it, it is for the front. A 4 mm allen wrench.
Clockwise is up, I think.

The fogs are attached with two torx screws at the base which I managed to unscrew through the access panel(with wheel off) in the fenderwell.I'd save some cash and have the dealer order the light but install it yourself.PM me if you have any problems when you get the part.

Sounds like a good idea...I'm fairly mechanically sound so I think I'll go that route. I wasn't too hip on removing body parts, but a wheel I can handle.

Thanks again.

DIY

I thought I would give the dealer a call to dbl check on costs....labor is not $170 it's $290 due to the bumper needing to be removed.

That solidifies the DIY job.

Its pretty easy to take the front bumper off FYI.. 2 bolts in the wheel well (just turn the wheel to see them) about three torx from the front and a few regular screws right under the front of the bumper, i've done it about five times no problem. Maybe 10 min job with just some regular know how of a mini.. Either way def not worth anything the dealer will charge.

Got the light out in about 10mins without the removal of the bumper. I did break one of the clips, but that's surely cheaper than the $290 labor cost from the dealer.

I am no hoping to get the plastic mounting piece rather than getting the whole light.

Thanks again!
