Rear Hatch won't open with lots of stuff stuck inside

I packed in a 30lb piece of glass, a super heavy chair, some boxes of text books. Now I cannot open rear!

I cannot access the latch under the rear seats either because of all the heavy things pinning it down.

All the stuff will not fit through the front either.!!

I've had this happen once before. Is there anything pushing against the inside of the hatch? If so, try to move it so it isn't pushed up against the hatch, or try pushing against the hatch from the outside (I pushed near the bottom center) to relieve any pressure against the latch. Then press the button to release the latch. See if this releases the hatch for you.

Good luck!

ya, lean against the hatch with your body weight and press the release button and try to synchronise that with you letting your weight off of it

tried the leaning and it doesn't work

so tonight miraculously, the door opened.
why? u ask

here my hypothesis:
The probability of something working on the mini is a function of temperature due to its size and cold bloodedness.

it dropped to 31 degrees tonight!
My hatch doesn't work in the heat and it rarely works in the summer.

My windows never work in the summer, the only air I get is from the sunroof! But once it cools to around 70 degrees and below, it works like it never broke...

My doors don't open in below freezing temperatures and I have to crawl in through the window like nascar drivers. (this is not the water freezing in the handles, it just doesn't work.)
