My August 02 build is going in for first routine service at 4500 miles (yes i know..but i live close to work and dont like to abuse my cars  )..i get the lurch starting and especially bad jerking when the AC is on....car is going in to the old Don Rosen MINI (whatever it is called now)...what version of the software should ii be insisting that they give me..and any other recommendations for service checkup...otherwise car has been running great...
Thanks in advance

the latest software version 34 may not be the best for your car

i called mini division regarding the software updates read all the posts on mini2, roadfly, and minicooper on line

to the best of my knowledge

32.1 is best for manual transmission

33.2 is best for cvt but may be detrimental for manual transmissions

34 has no new updates for MINI only for other bmws It may be OK for cvt but may make manual trasmission run worse

a new version is scheduled to be release soon,
what it has and how well it works is not known

I am skeptical that many dealers including don rosen/ mini mainline are aware of these issues. I would read the other threads carefully and go with a consensus of MINI owners and not trust the dealers opinion.

your dealer should know what version of software you currently have.
it's part of their service records. call them.

Do you think it would have the software version somewhere if it has never been in service? I take delivery Monday, so I'd like to be able to find out what version I have, especially in efforts to help out with this Stumble issue others are having.

Worst case I can run down to the service dept. and see if they can hook it up real quick and tell me.

My understanding is that v 34.1 has just arrived at the dealerships. I'm waiting for them to qork out some bugs on their computers and re-flash some of their cars and then away I go for the new version. crossing my fingers on stumble, etc.
