Brake Dust

2007 S model. OMG. The brake dust from the OEM shoes is terrible. What a Bi__ h it is to keep the wheels clean. Can I upgrade those shoes to ceramics without a warranty or equipment damage problem? Any ideas where and what kind of ceramic shoes to buy for the replacement?

Apply wheelwax on the rims. It makes cleaning a lil bit easier.

Yes and well......

I know EBC has pads out there, I put them on my 07 a few months back and yes, get less dust. I believe the Hawks are out too but can't swear to that...I haven't bought them.

Once you take the OEM pads off you can certainly forget about 'pre-paid maintenance' covering your pads and I wouldn't bet on rotors. Any problem that's not brakes related should not be an issue. Bad brake wear? No, warranty isn't gonna cover that. A pulse problem, or a warped rotor....don't hold your breath. But an engine problem...waranty is solid there. An ABS or ASC/DSC issue .... well now things can get fuzzy. Your dealer may be one of the mod friendly ones, or not. You need to ask some of the other owners around town....

I put EBC's on the front and now the fronts dust just about the same as the OEM rears. I did this on my 02 3 years ago w/out a problem.....we still have the car; and on my 07 as soon as EBC released the pads.

Welcome to BMW ownership! Change the pads to ones that dust less [like Hawk HPS] or get used to washing/waxing your wheels every other day.
