Resetting maintenance interval

Searching here's not always easy. I tried but it didn't yield an answer. Does anyone have the instructions to reset the maintenance interval on an R50?

The only time the following procedure should be performed on a vehicle still under Full Maintenance coverage would be when an owner chose to change their own oil on a SCHEDULED oil service. Doing it at any other time during this coverage will PUSH OUT the next service!

To reset the service interval indicator:

push trip button

turn ignition key to position 1 and 15A will appear to left of mileage

release trip button

wait 3 seconds

push trip button

wait (5 - 8 seconds) for RST to appear in left corner

release trip button

push trip button

15000 [or kilometer equivalent] will appear as new service interval

release trip button

The miles [or kilometers] until next service will now count down from the reset interval.

Awesome post above should be a sticky, here is another version of doing the same thing.

From Bentley Publishers Mini Cooper Service manual for 2002, 2003,2004, 2005, 2006 Mini cooper, Mini cooper S, Convertible:

Service Interval Display (SIA), Resetting

After the specified maintenance has been carried out, reset the SIA memory using the procedure below:

- Turn ignition to position 0 (steering locked)

-Press and Hold trip reset button, then turn the ignition switch to position 1 (steering wheel unlocked). Within 5 seconds display shows current SIA status (OIL SERVICE or INSPECTION).

-Release trip reset button.

-Press and Hold trip reset button for 5 seconds to change to reset mode. Display flashes rst.

-Press reset button again. Current service requirement is reset and display shows new status for 5 seconds.

Take your time read the directions and it is really easy to do. :-)
