My MC has the 16" RF sports tires on the 5 spoke wheels. I love how they perform but when I do have to replace them I'd prefer not to pay the $189 each that the dealership wants. Anyone know of any options that would be the same as the tires I have now except not runflats?

The tires I have now came with the sports package on my 02 Cooper. They are Goodyear Eagle 195/55R16 87H.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Would prefer if you e-mail me at mike@stlmini.com. Thanks!

Sorry, I realize this is a duplicate post but cant figure out how to delete it.

Who says you have to go to the dealer to buy the tires. Tires are tires and as long as your buying a good brand look somewhere else.

Go to tirerack.com
If you want to replace your tires with standard non runflats in 195/55-16
then there isn't that much to choose from that is very good. (ask alex@tirerack.com for help)
But if you don't mind 205/50-16 (which is still fine for your wheels) then you find
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
The Bridgestone S-03 Potenza Pole Position which is vastly better than your current runflats and cost $140 each
(also note that if you live near a costco- you can order these same tires but you do wait up to 4 weeks for delivery)
From Tirerack:
The Potenza S-03 Pole Position is a Max Performance "summer" tire that was developed to meet the needs of the drivers of high performance sports cars, coupes and sedans by bringing Bridgestone's F1 tire technology and design to the streets while blending dry and wet traction without abandoning comfort and wear. The Potenza S-03 Pole Position features Bridgestone's UNI-T AQ II Technology that uses advanced compound and construction features to enhance and preserve wet traction through the tire's life. The Potenza S-03 Pole Position provides max performance that lasts.

On the outside, the Potenza S-03 Pole Position molds a Super Long Link Carbon Black, Dual Layer Tread II compound into a directional tread design that features notched shoulders, large "High Nose" intermediate tread blocks (that are shaped like the side view of a "high nose" F1 car) and a continuous center rib to provide quick dry road response and handling. Super Slant 3D grooves help direct and evacuate water through the tire to resist hydroplaning. The continuous center rib also helps reduce noise while providing constant road contact to enhance straight-line stability. Internally, the Potenza S-03 Pole Position features Bridgestone's Computer Optimized Component System which blends twin steel belts with spiral-wrapped Jointless Cap & Layer Construction which stabilize the tread area to enhance handling, high-speed capability and ride quality while minimizing weight.

Take a look at the Yokohama ES100's. I have them and like them a lot. In 215/45x17 they were under $100 at the Tirerack.

The S03s are superb tires but the ES100's seem close enough and a good match for the performance levels of the MINI.
