Warranty Work

I have a 2006 MC and this past week while washing there appeared an approximately 1" by 2" area on the hood where the sealant is peeled away. Shouldn't this be covered by warranty? The car only has 20K on it and is about 20 months old.

I would like on information before I take the 3 hour trip to the nearest dealer. I called Mini USA and they said that only a dealer can determine if it warranty work.

Help please.

Assuming you mean clear coat (paint), then the dealer will need to determine the cause and if it is warranty. If they deem it abused, or something other than simple clear coat failure, it will not be warranty. Any pictures? Should be easy to determine if it's clearcoat failure or not.

Just my thought, but unless your dealer is really cool, they will call it normal wear and tear from a rock or something. Pictures would be really nice. If the peeling is not on the front, but on the side or back of the hood, they might be more inclined to fix it.
