Spare tire
Spare tire
I decided to dig out the spare tire and give it a once over. Glad I did.
First off it was almost flat, but that is to be expected.
Second, the air hose that is connected to the valve was frozen on. No way I would have gotten it off of the tire on the side of the road.
I inflated the tire, a nice little 1" x 2" bubble popped out of the side wall. The tire is not usable.
I called several tire dealers and none said they could get me a replacement.
Where can I get a new spare tire?

Had not even thought about checking my spare out but with the climate change I have put my MINI through in the past few months....I am going to drop it down and check it out! Keep us posted on your resolution if the dealer can help or your source for a new tire.
Coopers have them, but the Cooper S doesn't.
I also dropped the spare on my cooper and found the flexible hose was gone and a lot of pebbles wedged in to the protective cover. tire also nearly flat, but inflated just fine. Also nice to actually figure out the process in the comfort of the garage and not roadside the first time you try to take it down. Happy to find it was easy. Cleaned the mud off and found rust starting around the weld seams where the rim is welded to the center part of the wheel. Cleaned that up and stopped the rust. Mine is a 2002 and long out of warrenty.
