06 MINI Cooper S & dead battery

my car battery is dead...i put on trickle charger and statred the car after trickle charger was on for a few hours.. then a few hours went buy and dead again..my car has 9,900 miles on it...i called mini and they said "mini will not cover batteries since my car is 1 year old+ and does not have 12,500 miles on it" Total BS in my book....anyway to my question...
What battery should i use in my car if it is bad and they will not replace it for free because i am not going to pay $175 for a crappy mini battery...

Model number and name and where to buy would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks
Wade

I don't know the model # but I've always used Sears Die Hard battery's and never had a problem with any of them.

agree that you got total BS from who ever you contacted mini wise....
My dealer, Downtown MINI in Orlando, replaced my dead OEM battery last year - free of charge - when I was at about 3 years, 40,000 miles. Even offered to tow it over there! If you have not already, I'd suggsest contacting some of the MINI higher ups.

For what it's worth, I'll consider the OPTIMA Red Top 34R when my 2nd battery goes - I've heard a lot of good things about them (they are expensive ~ but probably not as much as the OEM unit).

I'd first try contacting the service manager at the dealer, next I'd try contacting MiniUSA about the issue...

you battery should NOT be dead in 2 years! There must be a short or other drain (like an open glove box)

That being said, I have had issues with DieHard batteries in the past (the worst was the new battery waas dead!)

I'd spring for the optima if you need to replace the battery yourself...

Total BS from the Dealer. They should be replacing for free, looking at the alternator, and checking for shorts! I've got a 10 year old Optima Red in my 96 Impala SS ..... still working GREAT!

As far as I am concerned, a battery is just a source of electrons. Buy the cheapest one with the best warranty.

I found this to be the Duralast battery sold by Autozone. Costs about $70 and has a SEVEN year warranty.

FWIW, my old Land Rover destroys an Optima battery ever other year. The last one I replaced began hissing and the top swelled from a buildup of gas inside. But since they have a free replacement policy within 3 years, I just keep going back and getting a new one as needed.

well i took the abttery out of my mini and had it tested at 2 auto parts dealers...autozone and o'reillys...the battery tested bad at both places...hmmm i wondered what casued this??? could there be a bigger problem or was the battery just bad???? any input....?????????

as far as the battery replacement i spoke with mini service again and he asked me how many miles in had on my car again i told him almost 10,000..he said they would replace the battery and check it for draws....he just didnt listen to me before and cause confusion, he thought i said only had a few thousand miles on the mini.....

we will see....
