Hello! And some questions.

Hi, I just took delivery of my dark silver '07 Mini Cooper S yesterday. I custom ordered it, and it's been a long 1-1/2 months. I got the sport and hyper sport packages, and pretty much no other options (I don't care about flashy features, just the pure driving experience). Anyhow, I have some impressions and some questions.

First, the car I traded in for the mini was a '98 540iA Sport. And, even though I haven't taken the mini over 4500 rpm (break in limit) it seems just as fast... I'm starting to think that the quoted 0-60 time is a bit pessimistic. How much variance is there from car to car? How badly did BMW underrate this car?

Secondly, I have one issue, the car has a (very) slightly uneven idle, but only when the car is gear and stopped, not in park. Is this normal, or is this a problem?

Finally, I'm glad to be here, this is my second mini (I had a '02 Cooper for my first car), and even though I was apprehensive about trading my 5'er, now that I've gotten and driven my car, I've very glad to be back in the Mini camp.

Edit: I have one more issue, I tried out the windshield washers at the dealer, and a bit of the liquid ran down the hood... so, I tried a bit of mequiars detailing spray on it... and it won't come off! Anyone have suggestions on how I can get it off?

You don't care about "flashy features" and yet you paid $1,400 for the hyper sport package??? Huh???

In my book, I'd definitely consider body kits as being "flashy".

Welcome to the MINI world...

1 I have just broke-in my r56 and indeed it is much faster that i think the car buyers guide quoted it.
2 I am having the same problem (if it is a problem). I would like to know as well.
3 Its called weeping and it seams like every one has this problem from time to time, haha try using a water softener in your washer resevar( no hard water stains)
4 just wait untill the yellow gue starts leaking from the bonnet

2. I had this same 'scenario' with my car at first. I do have to say that after 2000 miles, I felt a nice change throughout the vehicle performace and the idle thing went away. Every once in a while I hear it/feel it when the engine is cold. I would say no big deal unless it is sputtering quite a bit.

my .02 cents..

Maybe it's just the adaptive throttle not knowing what to do before it's mapped driving style?

Ahh, the sport package, not the hyper sport. The hyper-sport is the one that tweaks the suspension. Anyhow, I was refering to the inside of the car...
