Steering Noise when car is off

I am sure you are all familiar with the steering noise that MC make, but i noticed that my car was still making this noise even when the car is off. What is going on? If anyone has any idea of what this is, and secondly how much it will be to fix let me know. I was thinking about trading in for a new one soon, this maybe the tipping point. Let me know! Thanks

Are you sure it was not the fan running? The fan does run after the car is turned off if it is really hot. The electric power steering pump should definitly turn OFF when the ignition is turned off. The ONLY thing that should run after the ignition is turned off is the engine cooling fan ..... and walk-away lighting.

Sounds like the power steering pump / relay is bad. Sometimes a failing battery will cause relay problems. I would first hook up another battery on booster cables to the car while running and then turn it off to see if the pump turns off normally. If it does ..... then check out your battery. If it does not, then the problem is with the pump electric circuit.

SEARCH will bring up a host of topics on the power steering pump issues.

Good luck!

If it is the steering pump relay, I'd get that checked out ASAP. Faulty steering pumps have been known to cause engine bay fires! Check out https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=73527 Hopefully it's just a weak battery causing problems, but better to be safe than sorry! Best of luck in getting your problem solved.
