Brake fluid reservoir leak/1st gear lurch
I popped the hood to admire my new MCS's engine(250miles) and there was a puddle of yellow brake fluid on top of the reservoir as well a residual amount on the sides/in the tank seam. I'm not sure if it wicked into the seam of the tank or if it was leaking from the seam. Does the cap have problems with sealing? It has also leaked down onto the master cylinder and proceeded to eat away a touch of paint. I carefully wiped it all down and now I am unsure if I should make a trip to the dealer. I also have the dreaded 1st gear lurch. I have been making excuses to my wife for it, thinking I'm not letting out the clutch just right. I usually am super-smooth with a standard. Will a dealer just shake their head? I am in K.C. MO. Baron BMW.
Thanks for the help.

Don't know what to tell you about the brake fluid. The cap doesn't seal as it doesn't need to. Either you have a leak or someone did some sloppy brake work and backwashed a bunch of fluid out the cap vent. I suspect the former.
As for the lurch, welcome to the club! What I do to avoid total humiliation is feather the clutch a while longer than usual to get up to speed and then just before the lurch, shift.

go to the dealer. a leak of fluid on the brake system is very serious, you can loose the brakes at any moment. the best way to clean any brake fluid that spills is by rinsing with water, but don't let any water get inside the brake fluid reservoir.
