Squeaky gear stick
When in neutral, if I push the gear stick to the left, I hear a short squeak. It does not happen if I push it towards right. It happens all the time regardless of whether the engine is on or off or whether the car has been sitting overnight or doing many miles. The shifting is OK otherwise, it does not squeak when putting in and out of gears, just in neutral and to the left.
Does this sound like something that could be cured by lubing or adjusting linkage cables? Note that two Bowden cables were replaced by the dealer, when they changed the clutch at 52K (now, the car is at 69K).
Thanks in advance!

shifter squeak
I have the same noise. I hear it when I move the shifter from side to side when I'm in neutral. To really hear it I have to have the window rolled down and if I'm next to a wall, like in line at a drive-thru, I can hear it better.
I've had it for months, maybe longer as I usually play CDs and can't hear it then. I have an 05 MCS with 16K miles. Have had no major service except swapping out the LSD fluid early on to stop a noise.
Anyone out there have an idea what this might be??

At least there is one more person with the same problem
Last time I was at the local shop for an oil/filter change, I mentioned this, and they applied some WD40 somewhere under the shifter ****. It helped for a day, but came back again.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
