Key Remote Reset

Perhaps I'm not doing a very good job of searching for an answer, but I did look for this before posting my question!

The last 2 times I've had my MINI in for service at South Bay Mini, the remote keys stopped working. I didn't notice it because the car was always unlocked at pickup. My Dinan guy did a reset for me after the first time it happened, but wouldn't tell me the procedure other than to say that he needed both keys to do it (I think he's just messing with me - but being the weekend, I can't raise him at the moment).

I was just down at South Bay for service yesterday and again, the remote stopped working.

So, what's the reset procedure?

ok this is what you will have to do to reset the remotes

have both remotes at hand when you do the procedure so both can be programmed.

1 insert one of the keys in the ignition and turn it to the second position.(close both doors)

2 turn it off.

3 remove key.

4 hold down the lock button and hit the unlock 3 times rapidly, then let go off both.

5 wait some time till the locks in the doors cycle, if you hear the locks go to the next step if not repeat again since step one.

6 once the locks cycle take the other key and hold it in your hand and follow step 4. do not put it in the ignition.

good luck!
is kind of a pain sometimes but thats the way to do it.
