Transmission problem for 2003 MINI
wondering if anybody has same problem.
i brought mine to dealer coz it's making whirl sound on low gear everytime i pressed gas..

they said i need to replace the transmission..
but it's only a 2003 car.. wonder if anybody has same problem.. or know anything bout it..
maybe there's a recall?

Cooper or Cooper S? If you do some searching there is a lot of information on the cooper 5 speed Midland transmission. Apparently its fragile compared to the Getrag 6 speed.

 

it's cooper . what's a 5 speed midland transmission? ah i'll look around here then

 

Had the exact same issue. The diff in the transmission was going and the only solution was a new transmission ($4500 that included new clutch) Mine is also a 2003 Cooper and at the time it had 72,000. I drive 106 miles a day and had to have it repaired.

Mad props to D&R of Indianapolis, gave me a non-Mini "free" loaner. Nothing like loaner with all the roundabouts in North Indy!
