Replace clutch at 12,500 miles??

My Mini dealer just called me to tell me that they are replacing my flywheel under the TSB for a chattering noise at idle. I only have 12,500 miles on my baby, and now this. I have been reading on here about this issue, and now I wish I would not have brought it up until I was closer to out of my warrenty. I asked the rep if they are going to be replacing my clutch as well, and she said she would have to see the clutch first to decide that. I know that I can buy a whole new clutch assembly and they will install it with no labor charge, but do you think I need it? I am truthfully hopeping that my clutch will also be bad, and they will replace that under warrenty. If they tell me its good, should I buy a new kit? :impatient

Thanks,

Ken

From reading many threads on this "chatter" at idle to me it seems like its 100% normal. Is it only when you do not have the clutch down? If you put the clutch down it probably went away. I have read literally 100's of posts of other MCS's that do this and all w/ out problem.

Well I just heard from the Mini dealer and they informed me that the clutch looks brand new, but if I wanted I could have them replace it for $205. I told them that I would pass, since my clutch is still good. They also informed me that this is a pretty common issue with Mini's. Some are just louder than others, and hear it more often. I can't wait to have my mini back, as I really hate my rental car.

Thanks,

Ken
