Ordered New Mini Cooper

I ordered my Mini Cooper, in Astro Black from Mini of St. Louis. I should get it in late March. I ordered it with Premium, Sport, and Cold weather packages. I live in the South County area!

If there are thing I should look for before picking my mini up, Please let me know, Also I would like to know What gas type and octane do most Mini users put in their tanks?

Happy Motoring
Craig

I have a MCS and run nothing but 93 octane. If you are ordering a MC Ihave heard you should be running at least 91 because of your compresion. Your MINI sounds nice hope you injoy.

Congrats stlcraig71 and welcome to NAM!!! Your MINI sounds super...be prepared for some seriously good times. I might also warn you that one can become pretty attached to these little cars...so brace yourself.

MINIs like premium...I get 93 octane and I get the best I can buy. I frequent Chevron (which I prefer) and Shell (closest by). Your MINIs performance and fuel economy will actually be better using premium.

Another valuable thing to to...get to know other local owners. There's a great MINI club in STL.

Lastly, learn to do a search here on NAM...upper buttons under the yellow MINI. There is so much information here from numerous years of production...it is truly mind numbing. Don't worry about asking questions...but the most comprehensive info can be found through a search. Then ask away.

Also, if waiting for your MINI makes you a little crazy...well, most of us have suffered this malidy as well so we truly understand (unlike co-workers, friends and sometimes even family ). Don't worry, once you're a bonified owner you will be much, much worse!

Craig,

I live in South County, also. Had one of the first MINIs in that area. A CR/B MC. Louie is gone but you are sure to see me buzzing around in Sunnie, topless of course

gas octain

Has anyone had anything higher than 93. I was in detroit last week and you can get 100 at regular gas stations??? I have never seen this, do you think it would make a difference?

I would congradulate you on ordering an Astro Black MC! Join us in the astro black registery.

MIB gets nothing but premium gasoline. I try to keep it at 93 octane. I havent tried anything higher. I have heard bad things about 104+octane booster I don't know about racing gas.

My owners manual says to use nothing lower than 91 octane. There is not much 91 here (we have midgrade 89 or premium 93) so I use 93.
Welcome to NAM!!! Enjoy your new Mini. The wait for it to arrive will be excruciatingly long but come to NAM often & we will help you through it

New Owner Also

I've been following the discussions on the octane rating both here and in another forum on NAM. I believe that the general consensus is to use the best possible product with at least 91 octane - which in St Louis means we use 93 octane. So therefore Mr Sun will be getting regualr fillups of 93 octane.

I really want to keep Mr Sun around for a long time and will give him the necessary care to do so.

I also live in South County. My Hyper Blue/Black MCS should be in the first of March.

south county seems to be getting more MINIs all the time. I live South of Festus but travel through South county every day to and from work so I hope to see you all out motoring. Congrats Stcraig71, you are going to love the MINI when you get it. Hope to see you out and about when it comes in. Gunner and I shoot through on the 55 raceway, I mean highway but I don't see many MINIs out at the times I'm going through south county.

Happy motoring!

I waited 8 weeks to recieve my mini and it was definitely worth the wait. I could hardly sleep the night before I was able to go pick him up. I live up in st. charles county and there aren't a lot out this way either. No worries. I feel the fewer there are the more looks mine gets. I have a new dodge charger that is parked near me in my work parking lot and there are people who will come up and peek in my windows and not even take a second look at the charger. It was sweet. Well anyway...you will love your car forever because you can always change it just a little to make it new again.

Well, the car is finished in production and now awaiting transport. Anyone have an Idea about when I should get it from todays date of 02/27/06.

the answer is about 5-6 more weeks. Should be closer to 5. Have fun. I know it's hard being patient.
