Pricing on new nini in stl?
Pricing on new nini in stl?
Hello,
I am currently looking into purchasing a new R58 and wanted to get an idea of how far bellow sticker the local dealer may go?
With most dealers there is more than one in the local area, so this is a different from what I normally deal with when purchasing new cars. I do travel to Chicago area often, so if I really wanted to I could try my luck up there if I can not get a good deal here.
just wanted to get an idea of what the other owners experience.
Thanks!

Based on what I've heard others say here and elsewhere, you shouldn't expect much off MSRP. At year end, Motor-tober, and other specials, you may get 750-1500 off, but its more common than not to pay full price or very close to it. Not to say you cant get them to throw in some free accessories, etc. MINI does seem to do great financing rates pretty often if you plan to borrow any of the money.
It was a pill for me to swallow...Im used to "gettin a good deal" when I buy a new car...but I figure if they arent sold at discounts, it helps the resale.

We just paid MSRP for our Roadster, but that may not be 100% relevant since it's a brand new model. Maybe we could have gotten a bit off if we'd haggled, maybe not. Our trade in was fair IMHO, so I felt like we came out ok.
As odd as it may sound, historically I've enjoyed that you had to pay MSRP for MINIs - I hate to haggle and it was nice knowing that everyone else was paying MSRP also!
Sort of like buying an Apple product - you don't have that frustrated if-only-I'd-shopped-harder or if-only-I'd-have-waited-for-that-sale feeling.

Oh good, you're getting some STL answers. I felt like I should chip in, having just ordered one that's due in 3-4 weeks (it's built and waiting for a boat ride).
Sorta like islandDon said, I'd not heard of deep discounts / "buy one today!" sort of behavior, and along with special-ordering one, didn't feel compelled to try any arm-wrangling without some leverage. You'll probably do better if trying to buy an in-stock vehicle that they'd be more willing to "move" if they've had it a while. Maybe.
It's a plus that no two of these seem to be alike, at least to me. But a minus is that, if you *do* want a certain combination, you can't easily hit 10-15 dealers over the 'net for a "Blaxis 5000 with leather and the Premium Package", collect quotes, and deal with the best offer you received. You'd settle for a car that isn't *quite* what you wanted; that may be ok for you, and fine; for me, I did want something exactly like I wanted (that darned online configurator!).
Even with a special order, I suppose I could have faxed my build sheet to several, and asked for a price quote on my car+options mix, but again, based on a lot of forum reading I wasn't convinced it'd be worth the effort, or even save enough to cover airfare + fuel for an out of town purchase.
So that was my experience/reasoning. I've done the cross-shop-offers method twice in the past on other brands, with great results. But didn't attempt it here.
