This event is an SCCA LEVEL 1 – PERFORMANCE DRIVING EXPERIENCE (PDX) Level 1 events are non-competitive and are based on the instruction and practice of performance driving and car handling. Drivers will be grouped by their prior experience into one of 4 track groups:
Novice drivers will have assigned instructors.
Intermediate and advanced drivers may have instructors, based upon request and availability. Drivers may progress to higher level groupings throughout the day, based on the decision of the Chief Instructor.
All convertibles and targa top vehicles must have a roll-bar that meets the rules of SCCA TTR, or a factory hardtop.
All participants MUST wear long sleeved shirts and long pants.

I wish I could go to this one (sounds awesome!) but it's right before we leave for the Montreal F1 Race. Everyone have a great time and be sure to continue to post these SCCA events so everyone knows about them. Same goes for the NASA events. Thanks!

The first event of the Solo Performance PDX Events, hosted by St. Louis Region SCCA will be Wednesday April 16, 2008 at Gateway Raceway. Yes, that day and date are correct. The event is a weekday and will be held 3PM to sunset. A driving experience is an opportunity to work with an instructor and get practice in car handling and precision driving in your own car. This is a non-competitive, un-timed event.

The Wednesday event series dates are April 16, May 7 and May 21. This series was developed in partnership with Gateway Raceway to offer busy car enthusiast another option to bond with their car and get some seat and smile time. Chuck DeProw, PDX Program Chairman, said “Gateway has had a lot of attendance for their weekday drag racing events and we thought that the same might be true for the track day events”, he went on to say “and we were correct!”. “We were worried about getting volunteers to staff the event might be hard, but we have had great people step up to help out”. Volunteers also have a big incentive to help. For each time they come out their name will be entered in a drawing to win a ½ day PDX event on October 19, 2008 FREE!

Last nights event was a HUGE success. over 25 HUGE smiles from entrants and even more from the instructors who did a A+ job wiht the entrants. A big thanks to our corner volunteers, Lynn Wilson, Rich Wise, Rich Lanz, Mike Byington, Brian Schuetz, Bob Rutiewski! (I think I am missing somebody, my apologies)
Ed Smith was a great Chief Steward and Ed Settle as great as a Chief Instructor. Instructors in training were given their certifications by IIT Chief Instructor Bob Mondshein who also was so proud of all of them. Chuck DeProw leads this group so well! Thanks to all and glad eveeryone had such a great time.
