hello and tint question

god I love this place...i've been a reading the boards since before i picked up my PW/B MC on 10/1/04, but haven't posted until now (just glean the information, right?). And just when I start thinking "it's time to get my windows tinted", someone posts asking for tint pics. So I know I want 35% all the way around, but I still have a few questions:
1. sunroof: do most of you get this tinted as well? pros/cons?
2. where to get it done: my MA gave me a name and number but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone reccomend someone in the LA area who works on tinting MINIs?
Thanks in advance!
Nicole

PW/B MC, anthracite headliner & dash, leatherette, Premium package, stubby antenna, euro parcel shelf, red CURE sticker, and as little chrome as possible

When I picked up my car at South Bay Mini in Torrance I took it right over to have a clear bra put on for the trip back to San Francisco. These guys were very nice and seemed to know their stuff, if they don't do tint I'm sure they can direct you to someone who does:

Cheers - I have 35% metallic tint all around (get it on all my cars) and love it. I did not do the roof; I thought about it but after seeing the guy with the roof that cracked I decided not to have anything put on that might interfere with the warranty in the event anything unforseen came up.

Do you really think a tint is going to interfere with the warranty? I've never heard of anything like that. I could be wrong, though, and the roof issue is pretty serious

However, the sun does get mighty bright around here (especially now that the weather's turned). A heavy tint up top would help keep your car cooler (a little). The previous owner of my car put a heavy tint up there and I'm happy with it.

Wish I could help you out with a shop, but I have no idea. Welcome to the board!

I know it seems extreme, but I've just has too much experience with BMW trying to avoid warranty work for any reason they can. There are sunroof covers that you can pop between the screen thingy and the glass that should work, or it should be pretty simple to make one for the front and rear that you put in to block the sun when you want to.

It's not in Los Angeles, but in Loma Linda / Colton out here in the "nine oh nine" ...

City Wheels & Tint is where I have had all my tinting done ('02 MCS, '03 325i, '04 545i, and '01 Chevy Suburban). They've dont an excellent job on all of them. I plan on taking my new LY Cabrio there in a few weeks when I get him.

Sorry, I can't help with the install question as I'm in San Diego.

My guy tinted my doors with the lightest tint (it is illegal to tint them so I went as light as possible). The boot window I did in medium as I wanted to be able to see out when backing up. The back side windows and sun roof I did in the darkest tint possible. I did the sunroof as the sun bothers my eyes. It has been on about 20 months now and no problem.

I will pm you with the name and number of the person that did mine. He comes to you place and does a good job at a reasonable price. Not sure about how far north he goes but he is out of El Cajon.
