My Poor MINI!!!!!

Today was the worst day ever, i destroyed the front left suspension on my mini! For those of you in the San Diego area you may know the on ramp to Moreana Blv. from Balboa North. Well i was heading to the tennis courts with my friend driving behind me and i went though the on ramp just to fast and cliped the curb. I went too wide for such a sharp corner. Just stupidity on my part. I called road side assistance for help and picked me up and took me to the dealer. Now i just have to wait and see what happens.
The suspension looked terrible and my wheel is completly cracked, it really sucks!

Terrible to hear....the sound must have been horrible.

Hopefully the repair cost won't be bad.

Best of luck!

Sorry to hear about your car On the bright side, they did total your car so you don't have to worry about getting back a car that isn't completely repaired. And if you get an new 05, you no longer have to deal with the Midlands 5spd.

Ouch. Sorry to hear about the MINI.

You "clipped" a curb and did $17k worth of damage????

How tall was that curb??

That is most sad to hear...

Better luck with the new ride...

I know that ramp well. It's a deceptively gentle turn at the beginning and gets a bit viscious about half way through. It suprises a lot of people. Trucks regularly spill their cargo on that ramp. But I don't recall that the curb is especially tall. It sounds like a freak accident - you hit at just the right angle and speed to do that kind of damage. Sorry for your loss.

Best of luck with the new lil' one, though!

Hi!

Bummer!!! My mini spent one week at the dealer due to a pothole because of the rain here in Socal. I could not wait to get my Mini back. I hope your insurance does you good.

well my insurence has agreed to pay out 21500 for my car. Which was a huge surprise to me. The guy at the body shop did tell me that i must have hit the curb at just the rite angle to brake the weak spots in the suspension. 17000 in repairs still seems crazy to me but i'm not going to complain about a 21000 payout.

Sounds like San Diego roads are devouring 2002 Coopers. I'm in the same boat as you Tony. Sad way to get an '05. I hope my insurance company is as kind to me!

Best of luck and see you in one of the "Waiting for..." boards!

Best way to make them be kind is by proving how much the market value of your car is, if you feel they're low-balling you. I did that with the first car I owned when I totaled it and got almost two thousand more than what they had its valued listed at.

I'm prepared with dealer quotes, ads and receipts!
