Members who have gotten their cars from Brecht MINI or serviced there
are welcome to join their Rally on Oct. 10th Sunday at 10AM. If you
have not received a postcard from them in the next few days check
their Web. www.brechtmini.com for info on run . This was real good
last year from what we've been told. Almost 125 MINIs showed up.

I guess this explains the bazillion MINIs that showed up at the vintage car races at North Island yesterday!
There were all of 2 MInis (one MINI and one Mini) in the Car Club Corral on Saturday, then on Sunday afternoon there were lots and lots of MINIs crammed in there. Very cool to see all of them - but why was everybody sitting in the Brecht tent when the races were going on?!
Did anybody from Brecht say if they would be adding a Mini to their vintage racing stable? Their BMW 2002s are cool (if not quite as honestly "vintage" as Cunningham's), but it would be fun to see a Mini out there. I think it would run in the same class as the Shelby Mustangs, et. al., which would be interesting in the twisties!
(My MINI has never made an official visit to Brecht, so it was out in the lot with the rest of the hoi polloi.)

Yesterday was a total blast! The run before it ended at the car races was filled with lots of great twisties. Officially - 131 cars showed up. We all got very cool goodie bags and "Sirus" doggie antenna toppers.
They gave away lots of prizes after lunch (shortly after we arrived) - so that's probably when you saw a big group of us under the Brecht tent. I didn't personally hear any talk of adding a Classic Mini to the racing stable, but there was a lot going on and lots of conversations taking place everywhere.
It was great to meet some new MINI peeps. Hope to see you all again soon!!

I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the rally. Although I registered over 2 weeks before, I wasn't listed as registered when I got there. So I didn't get a goodie bag, and due to the incorrect directions, I was so late to the show, I couldn't stay. I hope next year's is more organized.
However, it was fun seeing so many MINI's out at one time! And the drive was beautiful.
