Valve seal replacement

I took my 2010 Cooper hardtop to the Nick Alexander Mini because it was misfiring. They charged me to replace the ignition coils ,spark plugs, and a lot of labor. After the service, the car was still misfiring and I took it back.

They have now told me it will be $1800 to open the head? and replace the valve seals.

Are they ripping me off? I'm really inexperienced with mini, but love my car. I bought it used 3 months ago.

I'm afraid they are taking advantage of me since I don't know anything about the majestic Mini Cooper.

replacing spark plugs and ignition coils takes less than hour (with a coffee break too). If you have the check engine light on, take it to autozone or similar parts store for a free scan. let us know what these codes are or you can google them too.

changing the valve seals will not stop it from misfiring. Also, ask for your original parts back to verify that they actually did the work. Lastly, on which cylinder is the misfire?

Find a respected independent MINI shop, dealer is the worst place for an out of warranty repair.

I just had this done this weekend as well as a service.
It was not expensive but my r57 runs so much better now.
