I think that's a poor way of looking at it! The reason that there are fees associated with the various driving clubs is because it's expensive and time-consuming to organize and coordinate events and meetings for hundreds of members. Some of the officers in my local club, MetroplexMINI, spend so much time working for the club, it's almost a second job.

The benefits that members receive greatly exceed the annual fee that costs less than a tank of gas. Four times a year, MINI of Dallas lets members bring their cars to the dealership and use the lifts and equipment in the shop for their "DIY" day. Then there's the parts discount as well. My membership fee has already paid for itself and we're only in March.

And I like the part where you put "$$$$"... you bought a MINI, wtf did you expect??

Meh we don't pay for Sunshine MINIs and we don't do super crazy stuff like that. Most of our meets are not extravengant and if they are the person that wants us their is normally a local business. They know that we are one of the most active clubs in the state that they want us there to help promote whatever they want.

Sunshine Mini's (Panhandle) Great club and free and lots of things to do and get togethers. Bunch of great folks. The 24th Mini of Pensacola is having their 10 year anniversary and we're all meeting at the dealership to celebrate. Yeah!!!!!

I don't belong to SCMM (Hey they are in the wrong state ). But the $35 one time fee seems reasonable. I do belong to MINI5280.org and we have dues (More than SCMM). No biggie. Just for the record you don't have to be a member to go on the monthly drives in MINI5280. Our club is paying half our admission to the Denver Auto Show (Also donuts and coffee before) for members (The donuts were not why I joined). Non-members are welcome to join the group but they have to cover their admission. Also, no one has asked at the meetings/drives who is or isn't a member. These are friendly people (Of course they are MINI people).

Anyway my point is this. IMO you should check out SCMM and see if they fit. Based on my experience with MINI people (Club/Non club) most are good people.

Best of luck Rayz.

Just want to say hello, I am president of SCMM and would like to invite you to a breakfast we have in the Rancho area this Saturday the 17th. (could be a light turn out with the weather prediction of rain this weekend)

Mimi's Cafe in N. Fontana (210 fwy and Sierra Ave)
16933 Sierra Lakes Parkway 92336

3/17/12
Meet at 8:30 for greet and bench racing, eat at about 9 AM

This breakfast is every third Sunday at this location.

Come on out and meet other MINI owners in your area, you don't have to be a member to join us for breakfast, just a love of MINIs.

We also have other breakfast events in other parts oh the area,

1st Sat of the month at Coogies in Malibu
2nd Sat of the Month at Ruby's in Long Beach

Learn about all the other events we have during the year, we average one large event each month in addition to the Saturday breakfasts.

We are quite possibly the largest MINI club around with about 1500 members, (SoCal is a big place)

After you have met with some of our members and had some fun with the club, you might want to join, if not, no hard feelings.

Feel free to meetup with us at any time.

Bill

^^Hell, I wish I lived there. Sounds like a lot of fun
and good people.
We do have a good club in my area as well but not quite
that big and no breakfasts (I'd like that alot).
The pres. sounds like a nice fellow.
Take 'em up on it.
Enjoy.

Sorry you couldn't make it but as you say the weather was terrible.
We have these breakfast every month.
Some may be too far for you but I live in Irvine and drive to Malibu almost every month, about 80 miles one way. But, hey, it's all about the drive in a MINI

1st Sat of the month at Coogies in Malibu
2nd Sat of the Month at Ruby's in Long Beach
3rd Sat of the month at Mimis in Rancho

The other thing going on this weekend is about 10 members will be at the Go Kart track in San Bernardino at about 11AM

San Bernardino Racing Indoor Karting
217 E Club Center Dr
San Bernardino, CA 909-824-7804

Come out and race with us or just come to meet.

Bill
