So I'm taking in my MCS for 28500 service tomorrow, but I gotta question or two. I have a list of additional stuff I need fixed (i.e. rattles, squeaks, etc.) along with whatever comes with the service. Since this is my first service appt. with the MINI being mine, I am unsure as to what they are going to charge me. Is all the additional work going to cost me money? I am still under warranty, but I have heard stories of dealers being difficult. Does it depend on the dealer? MINI of Nashville seems alright, but sometimes you have to twist the arm of the BMW service dep't. Sorry for the long post, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Im personally afraid to have any but the worst squeaks or rattles looked at, as sometimes the fix is worse than the problem. If you have the hatch squeak, just put a couple of turns of electrical tape on the latch ring.

I spent all day yesterday at MINI of Nashville getting my roof rack installed. Considering that I was very deliberate about letting them know that I was driving 3 hours from Birmingham and would like to be in and out ASAP due to the driving, I was a little disappointed that they kept me there waiting for over 7 hours. I do know that it takes a couple hours to do the job right, and waited patiently, but it would have been very pleasing if I they gave me the feeling that my time was as important as their's. Nonetleless, they did a good job and I am pleased with their service.

I would not hesitate to go back to them, despite the long wait yesterday, and Michael the service writer was very nice to me.

Make sure that they give you the price of any non-warranty work before you have it done, and don;t expect miracles in the squeak and rattle department.

Thanks for your input. I have a ton of rattles, some have HOW-TOs on NAM, but some I don't know how to fix. I will take my chances, as I need the sutmble fixed, as well as some other stuff looked at. I will ask them about pricing, too. Thanks

I understand wanting to know the charge before a service is performed........but, use care in asking about charges. I have a feeling that a warranty item could turn into a charged item at the mear mention of pricing. I would have the attitude that the service will cost nothing, nada, zero. Rattles are warranty items as is "fixing" the stumble. You should leave with the car fixed and your bank account unmolested.

Good luck
