Rota Slipstream 15x7.5, 15x8, 16x7.5 and 16x8 Anyone interested?

I'm getting ready to put together a special order on these sizes. These guys make lightweight wheels with very cheap prices. I have a set of 16x7's and 15x7's(on the way) but want a bit wider for solo II.

Delivery times on the 16x8's will be roughly 8-10 weeks since it will be a newly made wheel specifically for our Mini's with a 4x100 bolt pattern, 56.1mm hub and the correct offset to be determined. I'm thinking 40mm based of gowest's experience with the slim 2mm clearance on the inside with his 42mm Volk CE28N's.

Anyway, I will hear delivery times on the other sizes tomorrow.

15x7.5 - $480 SHIPPED - I need 10 people per color
15x8 - $500 SHIPPED - I need 10 people per color
16x7.5 - $530 SHIPPED - I need 10 people per color
16x8 - $550 SHIPPED - I need 5 peope per color since this size is already exists(wrong hub and offset though)

As you can see, pricing is unfreakinbelievable for the lightweight and custom size. I would anticipate weight will be roughly 12-14lbs, I'll weight my 15x7's as a reference as soon as they arrive and post the result.

PM me if your interested.

I have a TON of Civic guys that will help us out on the order numbers for 15x7.5 and 16x7.5, so, we are going to make it for sure on these, its just how long is the question. When the final order is placed, a deposit will be required by Rota.

thanks!

Craig

On 16x8's you may want to stay with the +42 but be prepared to need a 1-5mm spacer. A good way to help figure that out woud be for someone with Slipsteams of any width to measure the distance between the outside edges of the wheel lips. If that distance is more than 1" wider than the designated rim width, i.e. 9.2" on a 16x8, then you would need to reduce the offset by half the increased width or .1" for the WHEEL to clear the front strut. Many 225 series tires woud rub the strut with a 16x8, +42. My 215/45/16 Azenis clear by 2mm.

Things aren't exactly roomy at the rear either and are made worse on the inside when using 15" wheels, due to the shape of the trailing arm. The 16x8, +42 have about 2mm more clearance (by my memory and posted here, somewhere) to the trailing arm than to the front strut and tire clearance, on the inside rear, shouldn't be a problem even with 225's but coud be a problem on the outside depending on a combination of tire diameter, width, lowering and suspension stiffness. My 215/45/16's rubbed slightly on bumps in hard turns when autocrossing or when full loaded until I raised the rear back up 1/4" and stiffened the rear another 50 lbs, but I'm still in the -2" area. A 15x7.5, +42 will be no problem in the front but would need to follow my "More the a inch Rule", from above to clear the rear trailing arm and a 225 tire in front may need another 1-2mm offset.

A 15x8 would need another 1/4" offset, so +35mm, minimum + 1" Rule.

If the Azenis came in a 225/45/15, I'd say the perfect tire/wheel combo, for STX. would be a 15x8, +35, but be prepared to run some 1-3mm spacers front and/or rear if needed and have lots of rear roll stiffness.

Another possible workable combo is;

Front, 225/45/15, 15x8, +37 min.
Rear 205/50/15, 15x7, +37 (or +45 to +40 and space to handling needs, more offset=more rotation) This would eliminate any rear tire clearance problems on anything other than soft low cars and eliminate some need for added rear roll stiffness for a more comfortable and safer ride off the course, when you put the "street tires" back on.

OK, noone really seems to be interested. I already put together a BMW E30 group buy with 6.5 sets of wheels, so, I am real suprised noone is interested besides the few.

SO, I am going to be forced to go with 7.5" wide wheels to get the STS Honda Civic guys involved in our purhcasing.
