Ignore Forum Areas

As a future enhancement idea, it would be nice to be able to configure areas of the site to not appear under "New Posts" if you've selected to ignore them. Slashdot offers this feature, as do a number of other forum sites.

Essentially, if one has no interest in off-topic or near-topic discussions, but still wants to see new posts at a glance, it would greatly cut down on the clutter and "Who's wearing red today?" posts.

Me too. I've wanted this feature for a long time. I too am tired of the sometimes relatively low signal-to-noise ratio around here, when the OT forum gets crankin' on some hot topic.

Off Topic doesn't appear on the "latest topics" on the left column and we have two versions of the pulse, one of which is autos only.

User configuration is something that's been considered, but there are other things slated for development before that.

I tend to use the 'New Posts' link when I come back to the NAM site - it would be beneficial to be able to customize which forums' posts appear in that list.

I would think that this is a feature we'll gain when vBulletin includes it in a future release. Hopefully in the next version or two of vBulletin we'll see this appear as I think it has benefits for all vBulletin-driven sites.
