Price gouging
I have been a member of this site for about two weeks and have found it to be extremely insightful. One suggestion though, just my personal opinion. I feel that the site should prohibit posts by people trying to push available minis for prices over MSRP. I was just in the marketplace section and found that somebody was trying to sell a mini for 30k. Our wealthier members should definitely have the right to purchase these price-gouged vehicles, but when doing so they should keep in mind that they are making it harder for individuals with tighter budgets, like myself, to afford minis. This is going against the attitude that the original minis were built with, "a car for every budget" was the motto if I remeber correctly.
DomTom,
I appreciate your feedback on this, somewhat, touchy issue. I've given this issue some consideration and while it irritates me to see pricing escalation, the fact is...MINIs are in high demand with a limited supply (in certain parts of the country). In those markets where demand is extroadinarily high (ie - California) people will find an opportunity to make an extra buck. One of the goals behind this site is to present all the view points (in a constructive way) that will aid our members in making a educated decision in regards choosing a dealer, buying a car, choosing options, upgrading with aftermarket parts, service issues, etc. As such I, personally, have found value in people posting these ads. It helps me to understand the dynamics of pricing around the country and how long I could expect to wait given the price I am willing to pay.
Thanks again for your feedback and we will continue to monitor this issue and others to insure they provide useful data points needed for decision making.
Best regards,
Mark
