Is it me or did the MINI Talk forum seemed to shrink? I thought the page count was in the 90's? Maybe I'm just delusional.

Is there an archive for old messages? Is there any consideration for an archive? Just curious. Might be something to keep in the back of your minds, if it's not aleady there.

Mini2Go: it looks to me like the very first thread ever posted in MINI Talk is still there, so I don't think any archival function is at work. My guess is that it's just a reformating of the number of threads per page or something along those lines in order to keep the total page count from continueously expanding and taking over more and more space at the top of the forum. In my browser the 78 pages now take up only 3 lines where before it was 3.5 heading to 4+ likes of seperate pages.

Actually I would really like it if links to only the 10 most recent pages were displayed. I don't usually have a burning desire to find out what's on page 37, 48 or 62. If I do want to find something older, the search function works nicely, and can still recover all the posts since the first days of the forum.

I'm sure mferguson can comment more on this.

DiD,

I agree with you about the 10 recent pages idea (or whatever fits on only one line anyhow). I suppose that was slightly beneath the surface of my archive question.

I too like the search feature - I frequently wish others would take a little more time to use it... (I think you do too, judging by your friendly hints in some of the threads.) Way back when I was a newbie, it took me a little while to understand how it was configured. (The fact that there really are two or three different links for searches on the site - the site search, the forum search, and the pic search) I think I've seen other messages asking about changing it. If there was a way to make it slightly more intuitive to use from the start I think it would help people use it more. If any *good* ideas occur to me on how that could be done, I'll let someone (mferguson) know.

I notice MINI Talk is up to 96 pages and the listing of those 96 pages is up to 4 lines of forum header space.

Is there a way we could just see the first 5 or 10 pages? Or maybe have the dispay similar to the longer threads where the pages are shown as 1, 2, 3, 4.....96

Dave,
As soon as I get freed up on some projects I'll look into this. I know its been a problem for a while. Hopefully I can get some additional development time on the site very soon as I'm trying to rearrange my work schedule. Thanks for the feedback and keeping on me about this!

Mark
