Alingnment of Threads in Forum

Site Admins,

When I am looking at the contents of a thread, the posts start under the Statistics box. So it is quite a ways down from the title of the thread. When I am viewing the threads within a single forum they appear aligned right. Is anyone else seeing this?

I'm curious to know what OS and which browser and versions you're running.

If you can tell me what os and version browser you are using I'll attempt to replicate the problem and resolve it. I'm sure there is a piece of broken html somewhere that is causing the page rendering problem you are seeing.

Mark,

I am running IE 5.5 SP2 and Windows 2000 SP3. I can send you screen shots if you like.

Sorry...I haven't had a chance to look at it yet but I have been able to reproduce the problem using IE on OSX. Given this let me take a look this evening/tomorrow and see if I can figure out what is broken. I apologize for the delay.

Mark,
Just to let you know, when I view the site at work (sshhh) I see it as noted above, but when I view from home the contents of the thread appear at the top. I dont know if it makes a difference but I thought I should tell you.

I opened this page as an example in Homesite 5.0 and I DID see a nesting error when I used the generic page validator. However, it doesnt appear to be in a spot to really effect the output of the page but who knows.

If you want more info ask and I shall give

I also find that on occasion I must scroll down the page to read the first post. I have a PC at work and a Mac at home so I'm not sure if it happens on just one or both.

Somewhat different Alignment problem

I'm not having the same problem as squid2. The alignment problem I'm seeing is that sometimes a post, or series of posts in a thread will be too wide for the browser window, so I can't see the text on the very right hand side of the post.
Resizing the window doesn't help, and there is no horizontal scroll bar associated with these posts. I run Windows ME and Netscape 7.1

It happened alot more just after the migration, so maybe its already being sorted out.

sorry for the bad news, but...

Shelly, as far as I can remember, that particular problem has always existed on this forum. When people are unable or unwilling to shrink their huge photos for a thread, it makes all of the posts on that page very difficult to read.

I'd assume that there's a way for Mark et al to prevent this from happening by automatically shrinking images that exceed the width of the page, but since it happens relatively rarely, perhaps the time and effort wouldn't really be worth it.

Talking out of my ***,
Chris

Chris, I usually find the the really big photos or graphs end up with a scoll bar at the bottom of my browser page. What's puzzling me is the posts that I'm having trouble with usually are only text, and it may happen with only one or 2 posts in a thread. Everything else lines up just fine, but the post in question end up off the right side of my page, no matter how big the browser window is sized.

Well, I just viewed a page and saw my particular alignment problem. I hit refresh, and the page came back just fine, the post resized somewhat, and a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the browser window. Works for me.
