Mark,

Would it be possible to organize the Private Messages in chronological order? And would it be possible for new Private Messages to appear either at the top of the list or at the bottom?

As it stands, unless I've missed some cool secret about formatting, my Private Messages arrive interspersed throughout the list of older messages that I am saving (for a variety of reasons).

I would appreciate being able to have them arranged in a more orderly fashion.

Thanks!

Clo/Wanda

I suffer the same problem, but I did discover there is an icon on new PM's that haven't been read. You just gotta scan the PM's for that icon, and you've got the latest one. Not the best way, but it works! Hope you're having a great time!!!

Thanks, OctaneGuy! I know about the icon! Trouble is, I usually have 125-200 PMs to scan through, which makes for tough going! LOL!

And I'm having a great time on the roadtrip! Taking a few days off before heading down to Florida to visit some MINI friends!

Clover,

Clean up your mailbox and you won't have a problem finding new PM's.

There isn't any way to change the display to cronological order and even if there were, at this point I think Mark is focusing on the next system software, rather than investing time into mods the existing site software.

Gee, thanks for the obvious comments, Dave. I have my reasons for retaining certain messages and was just hoping there MIGHT be some rhyme or reason for PMs NOT appearing in chron order.

Thanks, anyway.

I hope that Mark eventually upgrades the site software to a better message board package like VBulletin. The current software has too many issues IMO and given the amount of hits and traffic he currently gets, upgrading the software should be given top priority.

As Dave mentioned the migration is a top priority. Currently there are a couple of things that have slowed the migration.

- Given the code that we currently use on the site it has proven that I am having to write a lot of custom code to get the data migrated to the new software platform (a part which is vBulletin). This code creation is time consuming as well as testing intensive. To migrate the site data I have to do a lot of dry test runs before picking a time to move the "live" data.

- New hardware platform. Due to the costs associated with the amount of bandwidth the site consumes as well as performance problems we have been seeing I have secured a new server that is much more powerful. While the migration to the new server will require some down time the new server must be first prepped to have all the base software packages that are required to run the site. This migration is something I'm working on now and I can hopefully get the site to the new server shortly after I return from the Dragon.

Thanks for your patience.

Mark

Clo, I've sent you a PM that will tell you how to resolve the issue.
Now you just have to find it.

NAM isn't perfect, but it's the BEST!
