How about awarding the 1000th registered member a Mini key ring?

Sounds like a good idea..... the only prob. I see is that the counter for member #'s is a little off. If you notice we have actually already reached 1K. If you click on the most recent members profile you will see that he/she is actually 1007.
Because of this someone may feel left out. Being that there are 2 1K members....
None the less.... I will talk to Mark about it. If we don't do something now we may in the future.

Again thanks for the idea.

Note: Moving to "Site Feedback" forum.
To me it seems better suited over there.

Curious if the issue with the 2 - 1k users was resolved and if the earlier suggestion of a prize should be considered for the 5k (and 10k?) registered users? There's still some time, but MCO is nigh on 4k!

If everyone one would help spread the word about MCO, getting dealers, owners, and enthusiasts to join (specifically those in North America...which we focus on) I would definitely put up a good prize for 10,000 members. I would even put up a prize (not as big) for 5,000 if we can get there by the end of December. So get out there and spread the word! We've got a great thing going here...let all the other North American owners know about the site and get them contributing!

BTW - The 2 - 1K users was due to the difference between the ID someone was assigned when they joined the site vs. the number of members. Over the months there have been users that were deleted (ie - test accounts). At this point I just look to the member list and watch for the user than makes the MCO Odometer roll over to the next 1000th.

If prizes are offered, then it is probably wise to clearly establish beforehand those types of details to limit any "issues."

I'll do what I can to spread the word. (And I thought the word for the day was "legs", not MCO.)

Agreed. I also don't want to start a battle for people to register using different email addresses just to win. This doesn't help the site and is why I've resisted doing prizes for this in the past. That said I think that 5 and 10K milestones are important things to recognize for the site. I'll put some additional thoughts into this over the next couple of weeks.

That would be great...it helps pay for all the bandwidth and processing power that we employ to support the site. A few more months and we'll be running on a Linux cluster

I donno either.. it may just be sour grapes, but what about thoes who have been here for a while? granted, i'm not saying we should all get free stuff, but it does seem odd to reward someone for just logging in... for all we know, it might be son-of-nolan
