I have had very little sucess with the search feature on the site. I don't know what the feature "looks" for, but it does not bring up responses or topics based on a keyword search. Perhaps this could be addressed.
I love the site, but the search feature is important enough to warrant attention so that it can be useful.

I agree. I've never gotten any meaningful results. i don't know if I am using it incorrectly, but to me, entering a word and hitting "search" should be all I need to know. Maybe a more user-friendly search engine?

I've just given up using the thing. It's quicker and easier to go to the forums and hunt for it the old fashioned way. Not that this method is particularly quick oer easy.

DK23,
Verruckt,

Hi... thanks for the feedback on this. I too agree that this is one area that we need to work on. Currently there are separate search areas within the site. For example, If you want to search in the "Galleries" You will need to do your search from the Gallery Main page. If you want to do a search in the "Forums" You will need to do a search in the Forums area. The (What appears to be) Main search (Located at the top right corner of every page. actually only searches the "News" items and not the entire site.
That said.... Yes I agree that this needs to be worked out.....
However... I may be able to help point you in the right direction.

For "Forum" Searches You will need to click on the "Yellow" highlighted
"Search" link located at the top of all Forum pages. Note: If your keyword(s) didn't return many results try to rephrase it.... I've had pretty good results from the Forums search feature.

For "Gallery" Searches you will see an area at the top of the "Main" Gallery page labeled search in which you will type your Keywords for the search. Note: be specific and if one keyword doesn't bring many results try to rephrase the keyword.

For "News" Searches you will notice that at the top of all pages on MCO there is a "type field" and next to it is a "Search" button. This search field will only return News articles.

Again, Thank you for the feedback. I'm sure this will be one area that we look into very soon. As always, keep it coming.
I hope the above helps resolve some of the issues you've been experiencing.
Happy Motoring,
SW

AHAH!

ok, I had just been using that big inviting "search" button at the top. I assumed all the search links were to the same database, as in most other sites. My goof. That explains why I only ever got the same set of "news" bullitins as results! Now I can stop running over to MINI2 to do searches! thanks!
