Hi Mark,
FYI, I've been having a weird problem with the site from one specific computer that I use one day a week. It runs Windows 2000.

I'll try to explain clearly... When I view certain threads, they get stuck in one place, such that when I scroll up or down, they return to the same place after half a second or so. It's not even enough time for me to click on a link and go elsewhere, so I have to leave the site and come back.

In case a specific example would help, I was just reading OmToast's thread in offtopic about "I hate technology!," and my screen kept returning me to the point in the thread where kgdblu's post was right in the center of the screen. I've only had this happen where I get stuck in the middle of threads, never at the beginning or end.

Hopefully this makes sense!

Chris,
This has to be the strangest problem that I have ever heard of  As far as I know (and can see) there is nothing in our code supporting the forums that can force a browser to reset where you are on a page. Based on your description I would venture to guess that the problem is something related to the browser installation on your machine or a rogue peice of spyware. The only time I've seen anything like this on a Windows machine is when the scroll bar in the browser seems to be attached to the mouse so that even though you don't have a button pressed the scroll bar is moving...like you can shake your mouse off of it. That said, this doesn't sound quite like what you are seeing. Let me know if you find anything more out about this particular problem.

Mark

Just trying to keep it interesting for ya! It only happens with NAM, else I wouldn't have even bothered to mention it. Anyway thanks for your response; sounds like this computer is just kooky.

Gee Mark, you forgot the required tech support admonishment of "And don't do THAT again!"

I'm wondering if one clue isn't to be found in Chris's example...i.e., that the thread was getting "stuck" on kdgblu's post. If I recall, that post contained several animated gifs. Is it possible, Chris, that where that browser hangs is always on posts that contain similar animations? If so, it could be the way that that particular browser handles (or mishandles as the case may be) animation and/or particular images. Of course, either way, the basic answer is the same as what Mark gave...it's the browser. If that machine has a second browser installed (which it probably doesn't since it's a PC) you might try accessing the thread from the other browser.
