I am a fairly new member to this site, but I have been reading it for a while. It is certainly a great site and very good members. I have learned a lot here, and have bought two MCS's with the help of this site. However, lately I see the same person posting over and over and over on the same thread, and I do not understand that. This person also goes on Google, and cuts and paste long articles. They have been helpful, but it gets a bit eerie after a while. Are they not violating site guidelines?

Example of thread I am talking about:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ic=17571&8

Of the 8 response to the thread, 5 are from the same person. I love this site, and find the different view points very enjoying, but after a while its not fun to see the same person on every single thread, and it gives me headache. Sure there is lots of quantity, but sometimes quantity does not equal quality.

Sigh, sorry to complain.

-Barry

I love minihune for the following reason(s): he has the skill, the knowledge and (most importantly) the free time requisite to do the research that I (and others) are too slow and/or lazy to do for themselves.

Worry less, Barry....
MINI more.

minihune is a much welcomed, quality aide to those of us a bit less mechanical/technical in understanding MINI quirks.

Barry, don't worry. MCO is frankly LUCKY to have someone like Minihune on here. He's the ideal board member - full of useful information and extremely kind, sincere, and well-spoken. I enjoy reading his posts as they are always full of information!

don't if this helps or not, but some people live on these boards, they post all day and all night. Others (like myself) go on the board for enjoyment at work or when bored... minhune just seems to be a very active member

Perhaps minihune could have consolidated the one instance of double posting into a single post, however it looks to me like minihune posted a response initially, and then took 10 minutes and went through a bit of trouble to search for and provide links to other threads for the benefit of the original poster.

minihune then responded to 2 other people commenting on the thread, and then finished up by giving an answer to a specific question.

It appears to me that minihune was having a conversation with 3 different people on the thread, and was posting to answer specific questions as well as offer advice about an exhaust system that he has personal experience with.

Sometimes a thread becomes a conversation between a couple of people that are online at the same time and I think this is just such a case.

I do agree with you that I like to see lots of people chime in and give their feedback. I also do not like it when threads get hi-jacked by a couple of people and are taken off-course from the original intent of the thread.

This thread however seems to be just some multiple posts to answer specific questions and provide some good links to threads that do contain lots of other people's thoughts and opinions. I always enjoy minihune's well thought comments and don't think this is a case of severe site guidelines violation at all.

Wow you guys are very quick over here! I enjoy the posts as well, and I did not want to cause any trouble on the board. But I think posting on every single thread is usually not necessary. I also happen to think other people should be given a chance to respond too. Sure there are know-it-all people, but it seems to be just cutting and pasting and knowledge are generally two different things. I am not surely out to attack anyone, and I apologize for any disrespect I might have shown, as that is not the intent. I was just pointing out, the same person posting over and over and over on the same thread tends to be very mundane. Fine if they will post on every thread on this board, post once. But 5 times out of 8 on the same thread, seems to be a bit one sided. I once again aplogize for my candor, but since I saw other people speaking their opinions and thier ideas were accepted, I just wanted to share my idea in order to make MCO a better place. So are you all saying if I start posting on all threads, and I just include lots of information, that is ok? I just want to make sure I understand the rules before I go out to play, as MCO seems like a scary place lately.

EDIT: Yucca, thanks for saying exactly what I was pointing out. It gets a bit disconcering to see the same person post over and over. I do see that he was talking to a few people, he could have PM'ed them instead of cluttering the thread. I don't want to create troubles, just pointing out things we can do to make this site better. I agree that consolidation of posts were in order, but it seems like if I ask for opinions/questions/solutions, this poster is not only there, but goes on and on about stuff that is unnecessary in order to make his posts long. If you look at my thread in offopic that talks about me giving my daughter a MCS, he goes on about the difference between MCS vc MC, when there was certainly no need for that discussion. I feel a lot of content gets posted unrelated to the thread, but because the poster tends to post so much quantity, the matter gets overlooked.

Barry, welcome to MCO...just in case someone forgot to say that.

As has been said many times already, Minihune makes many positive contributions to MCO...and he does have one of the better attitudes on the board. Personally, I'm never offended by a member who has positive, informative, knowledgable contributions to make. If he's able to do that often...well, more power to him!

Stick around a while and you'll learn more about Minihune. Like, the fact that the guy's a medical doctor, home schools his kids, AND has time to actively work on his MINI. Damn, I wish I could manage to fit so much into a day.

(Charles, I have absolutely no idea what you were talking about in your post. Come again?)

>>This thread is a big mistake on your part. Sndwave and Minihune are cornerstone's of MCO. They are like sacred cows of the US govt. Please don't offend them!

No offense taken. I think it is a legitimate question to ask. I reviewed the posts I made and I agree that I could have done a better job but you hit me at my weakness which is my Quicksilver exhaust and in my enthusiasm to post about it I went a bit overboard. I'm sorry. I did think that the links to threads were good ones- the best I could find. Often I will try to do the searching when I have time since I know where to look and I have read all of these threads by the way.
Also I will try to let you know if I have the item or have first hand knowledge of it.
Finally I know that my posts tend to run long so I will try to be more concise.
No harm, no foul. I'll clean up my act.

I removed the recent posts as I believe the post above is not related to other issues that have been recently affecting the site.

Thank you everybody for not getting in a fight with me. I also have respect for said member, and because I don't know most you yet, I am not comfortable using the PM feature.

Mark, I have no idea what you said. My english is lacking, since I let go of my law practice.

Minihune-Brad, thank you for your honesty and kindness in understanding the situation. I hope I did not cause any disrespect. All I meant was to me it looked like you were flooding some threads and some part of the sites. Thanks for making the corrections

Now lets motor
