I'm just not sure since all I can see is the server load and its staying very low. There may be a router down some place that is causing congestion but I'll have to explore further immediately after MOTD (I leave early tomorrow morning).

Again, I've been monitoring the site and am not seeing significant hardware loading on the server. I also haven't seen any other reports of pages not being found except for rustyboy's report.

We'll be migrating the site to Internet Brands data center in the next couple of weeks (I'll announce this because it will require a bit of downtime) so the latency delays I've been seeing in hops coming to our hosting provider may get resolved.

Yea, I keep getting error messages. Error 503...

All day today. In fact for most of the last few days I've been getting errors.

Have you tried to clear your browser cache and also remove the NAM cookies? Also, are you behind a proxy by chance that could be caching bad content?

No I'm not. Straight shot from my router to the internet.

yes I've cleared my cache and done all that. This seems to be a problem that started when the new owners took over and has gotten worse over the past few weeks.

Katie - we haven't transitioned hosting to Internet Brands yet so its running out of the same data center it always has.

Would you be able to download and run a visual traceroute tool? If you could it would help me to see where in the chain of connections that latencies are happening.

I've seen the 503 problem as well occasionally. A browser refresh or waiting a few minutes seemed to solve the problem. I've been travelling since Thursday, and have used mostly my 3G connection via AT&T to access NAM, and have no issues..maybe it's a problem with your connection?

At my office, I've had a variety of sporadic DSL issues, but I have a backup wireless connection--so if I start to have issues, I try that, and find it solves any issues.

Also, next time you have access problems, connect to a variety of different sites and see how they perform as well.

ok this seems to be browser related.

I switched to firefox from IE, and I havn't had the error yet.

So most likely a cookie/caching issue interfering with the server connection..

There are times when a 503 can occur...usually when we are doing backups and the server is loaded. This is very early in the morning though.

When you do get this clear the cookies relating to northamericanmotoring.com from your browser and clear your cache. The 503 should go away.

As an update we will begin migrating the site to the Internet Brands hosting environment over the next couple of weeks. There we'll be on a load balancing server arrangement and with obvious different backbone provider connections we should see most of the recently reported issues go away.

For about a month now I'll click on a post and sometimes it takes up to 3 minutes to load . Sometimes I open another window and do something else on another site , sometimes I just click out .

We've seen these problems in the past but after a reboot last week they largely appeared to go away. We are, sometime this week, migrating to a load balancing, multiple server infrastructure at Intranet Brands that should resolve some of the problems we've been seeing.

I suspect that the problems may have been caused by our webserver though I can't pinpoint that for certain.

Try using a different browser. I was using IE to check this site, but since I changed to Firefox, i dont get the 503 errors any more.

Once in a while the site spins, so I close firefox and come back 5 minutes later and all seems back to normal.

NAM is acting up horribly for me today in a way it never has...

8 times out of 10 if I click the "new posts" link on the left main menu I go to a blank white screen & the same thing happens if I click the checkmark to take me to the last unread post in a thread. I can open a thread & go to it with no white screen but I can't do it via the "last unread post" link.

I am at work so have not check to see if it happens on a different ISP at home. I also just did the upgrade to Firefox 3 yesterday if any of that matters

I've restarted the webserver and database. When I did this last week it seemed to eliminate many of the problems we were see for a period of time. It may be that the server is starting to swap which is adding the delay. Regardless, I'm waiting for an update from Internet Brands on when we'll get the migration completed.

My white screen of death is back today worse than ever. If this post goes through I will be amazed. I am having difficulty getting threads to open using both the new posts option & clicking on the thread title or a page number, I get white screen when replying to a thread & when I go back & check my post did not go through. It is even happening with PMs.

I have cleared my history, cookies, etc but that did nothing to help
