I am wondering how difficult it is to replace the mirror caps on the MINI. I would like to change my black ones to chili red. Do they snap on or is there an adhesive? Also, is there a decent palce to have them painted? The dealership say they only have them unpainted and they cannot get them in painted. Thanks.

I haven't had any parts painted (just chromed), so I can't help you there. You might advertise here on the forum that you are looking to buy some red ones, it would save you buying primed ones from the dealer and having them painted.

I have been looking arount the internet for some checkered mirror caps... im seeing prices ranging from $130-$250... anyone know a site to get them any cheaper than that or maybe used ones?

 

You might find someone who will do a vinyl layover on your caps. By the way, I recently replaced mine using the instruction in the thread Steve referenced. Piece of cake. Note that a couple of the clips on the originals were in fact broken... they were delivered that way apparently.
