WTB: 05/06 JCW or S

Hey Mini enthusiasts and Mini sellers,

Background: I recently relocated to the NW and I’ve been looking to purchase a Mini Cooper JCW or S (1st Gen, preferably 05/06) as a fun project car for some spirited weekend driving.

My budget: would like to stay in the 5-6k$ range; but, the right car might convince me to spend a little more.

Must have: manual transmission.

Color pref: Green or blue exterior; but, greys/silver, or white exterior are fine.

thank you for your pending support!!

saw that one... wonder why there are “cloth” seats in that car?? Figure most were leather in the “S” line. I am “possibly” interested... that color though ;( not the worlds biggest fan of purple.

If this car were a different color, I wouldnt hesitate to reach out.

Leather was on option on R53s. I'm on R53 #3, #1 had cloth, #2 had cloth/leather, and #3 has all leather.

I've got a nicely optioned and modified '04 S, Electric Blue/White roof, I'd considering selling but I'm on the east coast.

I’ll reach out to them today out of curiosity but I have a feeling they sold it. It’s not listed on their site, and has been deleted from the other sites it was listed.

yeah. East Coast presents at least 1000$ or more transportations costs and the military has restrictions on our travel out of home base area. We can’t just freely take leave right now without a litany of approvals.

im curious to what all has been done With your blue cooper. I was honestly trying to find one in the 05/06 year models based on my research. Not that 04’s are naturally worse. But supposedly some more common issues were addressed into 05/06. I sincerely mean no disrespect either. If an 04 with the right miles/service/even mods came along and was the right deal, I might be stupid to not jump on it.

thabks again for all your help!!

SSJ, retired CW5 on this end. I've had an '05, '06, and now an '04. You can read about all the differences, but I can't tell that much difference between them.

I'll hit the high points on mine. It has the premium, sport, and cold weather packages. Interior is two-tone blue leather. I added the chrome line interior and exterior trim, aero side skirts, driving lights, center console gauges, and R90 wheels. Inside there's a rear seat delete kit. I have the rear seat. Mods include a 15% reduction pulley, GP intercooler, JCW injectors and intake, WMW tune, and Milltek exhaust. It has a JCW suspension and strut brace, and R56 front brakes. The mods are relatively mild but it's not a track car and is very easy to live with.

hey SuperCoop! Thanks for the info and thank you for your service!!!

apologies I didn’t see this post until recently. I’ve been soo focused on the great deals in CL. I presume you have a post/listing up and I’ll research it to see your car.

I’ll be completely transparent here: I’m keeping all options open/considered. I’ve been in talks with Dino and his ‘06 GP (his price has come down quite a bit). We’ve done a lot of communication regarding the car and I’ts one I could purchase; but I feel he needs more time to settle things out, and I don’t want to “steal” the car from him when a little patience finds the buyer willing to pay his asking amount.

there is another car (JCW) in Portland that looks like an incredible deal. 2700 and it appears to be in fairly good shape. I’ve reached out to him to get further details. Sometimes these deals that seem to good to be true... ARE!

As for your car, I’d love to get some more details and you can PM me any of those if you want. I know out of all people I would deal with in a transaction, I always feel safer with a fellow brother/sister who served our country - It’s like an unwritten rule to expect a level of integrity and respect... not that every one follows it; but, I’d say 90-95% generally doo! And I feel that most on this forum selling their cars also have integrity and are quite professional, so I don’t mean to insinuate only military folk have integrity.

inolan to keep all my options open and if the perfect deal comes along, all is good. I am learning that this may require a special level of patience and a lot of luck!!

I look forward to hearing from you SC and thank you again for your service!! Navy? Marine? Army?

It sounds like you've found some good options already, but figured I'd throw my hat in the ring too. I have a blue 2006 Cooper S hardtop with a manual transmission and 146,000 miles on it I'm looking to sell. The car is in good working condition and has no transmission or engine issues. It does have some other parts wearing out as well as some cosmetic wear; But it will still make a good car for someone with the know-how to fix these things. I'm not sure how much of a project car you're looking for, but if you do happen to be interested in something like this, please PM me. It would be well below your $5-6k budget as well.

hi! Thank you for reaching out and no, I actually haven’t found the right one yet. We all saw the Portland JCW for 2700... but the guy hasn’t responded and his newest post says to tell everyone to be patient as he is getting saturated with calls and messages. He listed it very low and I’m guessing he’s getting offers left and right. It’s a great deal!! But as is with most of those diamonds in the rough... I missed out.

so, the search continues. I would love to see your car, shoot me a PM and I’ll give you my number to text photos to me or you can send them in the pm.

you said your price would be well below my 5-6k range. 6k is at the absolute max for me. I really want to keep things around or below 5. Or even lower if the car needs an inordinate amount of work.

are you on the west coast or east coast?

thanks again. And I look forward to hearing back from you!

Hi SSJ, I'm not listing it for sale since I'm not trying to sell it. If you're interested, however, send me an email at ricrabbit@icloud.com and I'll send you a list of everything I've done and some pictures. It's a nice car and has won the MINI class in several British car shows. I was Army, 5 ½ years active duty and a a a few decides of reserve going back to the cold war.
