Seriously, you're going to use age as a metric? Maybe for a civic.. Take a look at air cooled 911s.. The cheapest one is like 40k now BECAUSE they're old, not despite. 1998 was the last year of the body style and the prices are averaging 80k because it was the last "pure" 911.
I know, 911s are not Minis, but there are similarities. 1st gen minis are similar in the sense that turbo Minis got more numb steering, bloated styling etc.. I think in a few years 1st gen mini prices will start to climb (a little) as they become harder to find, especially clean, low mileage JCWs.
I was offered $10k for my 2005 JCW R52 with almost 90k miles, and I turned it down because I'm not ready to part. There aren't as many clean ones out there as you would think.

The same can be said for yours. There are plenty of folks who are looking for a slick top JCW in with low miles. Be patient!

The rare set of options made this one climb in price. Its one option away from being perfect, IMO. Needs chrono to accompany those beautiful heated English leather seats and webspokes in its low-mileage, unmolested JCW glory. Nice color as well! For the right buyer who finally comes across the perfect factory JCW R53 and all of its LSD goodness, a premium will be gladly paid.

I just bought it. It's a great car. This thing is super clean. It came with all books and records, it's a two owner car (now 3), and it's a factory JCW kit - notice that it's on the Monroney sticker. Most of these were dealer add-on kits. It also came with a bunch of extra parts including a set of racing brake pads, a chrome grill and a Bentley manual. The owner was a great guy as well. I couldn't be happier. It was a great deal - if you don't think so, you haven't looked for one.
You can follow the car on my Youtube channel. http://www.youtube.com/ruberbubba (nothing there yet but when it's ready you'll see track day vids). And, I'll do a build thread on the grassroots motorsports forum. Same handle: Motor_Mouth.

Congrats on picking up a great car!
If I had not just bought a similar car, I would have had to jump on this deal.
