[Sat & Sun, May 10th - 11th] CDC's Autocrossing, Frederick, Md.

The Capital Driving Club autocrossing event will be held at Harry Grove Stadium, Frederick, Md.

Harry Grove Stadium
21 Stadium Dr, Frederick, MD

There were 10+ MINIs registered during the past events. They did really great job going against the world.

Please come and join us for a fun day(s). You don't have to race to enjoy.

Hang out, talk cars and watch MINIs and others being pushed to the limit is fun already.

For the one who's interested to have fun running (and is not a CDC member), they will open for register in a week or so.

For the first timer, here is the FAQ. this will answer most of your question.

Looking forward to meet you there.

Here is the info from the CDC.

Saturday May 10th Autocross

Harry Grove Stadium, Frederick, MD is the location of the next CDC autocross on SATURDAY May 10th. We will also have a Test and Tune SUNDAY May 11th.

Registration and tech inspection will be at 8:00 and will promptly close at 8:45 to try to accommodate the full field, while still giving 6 runs. You must be DONE by 8:45. So if you arrive at 8:00 you won't have a problem. Don't arrive at the last minute.

The event fee for the Saturday autocross is $25 for members and $35 for non-members at this event.

Sunday May 11th Test and Tune Day

These Sunday Test and Tune Events will be held the day after the Saturday Harry Grove Stadium Autocrosses in Frederick, MD. The Test and Tune event will be an informal autocross using the same/similar course as the day before. The differences are the following:
  • Field is limited to 40 participants with about 5 organizers (for a total of 45 vehicles).
  • Times will be announced and recorded on the timesheet, but no results, no points, and no indexes will be posted -This is only for fun.
  • No extra runs if we miss a time - This is only for fun.
  • The format will be 2 heats with 5 morning and afternoon runs (number of runs in the afternoon will depend on time and weather conditions. We hope to give 9 to 11 runs).
  • No food or drinks will be provided - We need to keep the amount of equipment to a minimum. So plan on either bringing drinks and food or going out to lunch.
  • Event is open to members and their guests only, since the event is so limited in size.
  • The entry fee is $35 per member, $40 for non-members.
All 40 slots will be given on a first come, first serve basis.

New On-line Reservation System

We now have an on-line reservation system at the new web address (the old one will re-direct you for now but only for a limited time).

www.capitaldrivingclub.com

Member reservations (or participants that will join the club upon showing up) for any events can be made at any time. Open reservations for non-members for this event begin Friday May 2nd.

Freeze on New Memberships

We are now on a new membership freeze. We will only accept only if previously arranged BEFORE March 30th.

If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me.

There are 9 MINIs on Sat 10th alone, that includes Mugami and Cosmic Purple.

Just watch them run is fun already.

I think the lot is smaller than Bowie at least a couple of double gates if not triple... Last year I run it in first gear a couple of times .

Mugami wasn''t the MINI autox "school " held there last year?

Thanks for the vid.. I would have to say no to the school being there .. if it was it was on a different lot. The size is alot like Pungo which the HRMINI group love to run (currently not available this year)

For me I will run in First on this size lot. Due to the Tall first gear of the 03, But depending on the layout I would Suggest second gear for your GP to help control wheel spin.

I'd say 2nd on my MINI as well, since I have a shorter gear ratio ('06) and 205/50-15.

It depends on the course.. last week I did 1/3 of the Bowie course (the reverse of the day you run) on 1st and I had .40 sec faster .. (which I promptly lost by taking three cones with me at the arrival gate )

Can you bring the tool necessary to adjust the camber plates? I need you opinion as it may be worth to go back at 0 instead of -1.

Which camber plates you have. and when you moved them in to the -1 .. did you have the car aligned.

By moving the camber it will cause the car also to have more Toe in (since we have Rear steer cars). This will cause a bit more push in the turns under acceleration.
