Has anyone installed 19" rims?

I really would like a set of 17's but I've come across a lot of cool 18's and 19's.

I have yet to see a set of 19's on a mini. Is it even possible or rather, feasible? II'm assuming you'd have rubberbands (which I don't want) for tires.

Anyone ever run any 19's? Just not sure how they'd look or feel on a mini....

I'm actually liking these wheels but don't know how they'd look on Hot Orange.

Opinions?

Thanks,

Mark

I Am no wheel expert but I have read many places that anything bigger than 17's just aren't that great for daily driving and the twisties. Sure they look cool. I wanted 18's before I got the rims I had. But after reading other posts, articles and personal experiences from other members I went with 17's.

At least maybe have two sets to pick from depending what you do with your car.

Thanks Bang, I was thinking that would be answer I would get thus the reason I'm really wanting 17's.

Anyone here any good at photochopping so I could see what the black wheels above would look like on my car?

Thanks,

Mark

It's your car. Make it how you want to. That is why I like the Mini's and the community. But I think you will be plenty happy with a nice set of 17's and springs or coilovers depending what you want to do with your car. My 2003 MCS has the "S light" 17 inch rims when I got it. I got a deal on another set of 17 inch Rota D2 rims that I just couldn't pass up. The tire is the same. But the funny thing is that with th stock rims the car looked ok and when I put the other 17 inch size the car looked like it needed to be lowered. Same size and different looks.

Keep us posted on what you get. Where are you from?

Thanks,

Mark

Wow, definitely looks great. How's the ride with the tires though? Love the color on your mini...

Thanks OBC, I found their site while surfing last night.... spent hours changing wheels and came across a few favorites but nothing that just jumped out at me.

I see you live in DC and Weddington. One of my bodyshops is in Indian Trail, the other in Monroe and I live in Mint Hill. Going to MOTD I assume? If so and I can make it, I'd love to go.

Thanks guys,

Mark

19" wheels for the MINI have been done. Do some searching to find pictures and information.

A good example (Jeff's MINITOR now sold, Austin TX)

19" wheels are used commonly for appearance but can be heavy and require 215/35-19 tires which with lower profile sidewalls be less comfortable for daily street use or risk damage if you have bad roads.

19" wheels will show the brake calipers and stock brakes will look too small so a big brake kit is often used to balance brake appearance.

The best overall appearance is to lower the suspension along with larger wheels.

I'd go for the first wheels. Cleaner design! The faux bolts look a little busy on the black wheels. Not to mention the center cap is kinda eh...

I've actually decided on these couple of wheels. I just need to make up my mind.

I had to break the links so I put all the following into one page. Sorry.

These are all my options....

Thoughts/opinions?

The top 2 look ok, the 3rd set don't suit your car & the 4th set are repulsive.

None of the above! Stick with number 2 of original set.

Actually, the thought occurred to me. I was going to pick up a set of S lites and since I'm in the bodyshop business, I was going to do that exact thing....

I figure the worst thing that would happen is it looks like crap... I'll mediablast the wheels and paint them again.

C'mon...if you're in the body shop business (I am too!) you know you'll never get the wheel painting done because you're always working on someone else's car It's like the cobblers kid always needing shoes

You are definitely in the same business...that's for sure. You know how it is. When you're slow, it's easy to bring in work, just start working on one of your own projects...lol.

Tis okay, I've got two bodyshops, I'll give one of them the wheels and not tell them it's mine.... they don't know I'm getting the car yet.
