Yeah, they sure are. I love them, I might have to try a set maybe for just road use.

No sure, I'd hate to even guess, I will email them to see if they have a listed weight on these. I doubt they are going to be as light as the Slipstreams but ya never know.

Based on Rota wheels in 15x7, weights run about 12 to 17 pounds each.

I will guess that these 15x8 rims will be about 15-16 pounds each.

The design is very nice for the MINI and Miata.

Many finishes to choose from-
Silver with polished lip
Steel Grey with polished lip
Gunmetal with polished lip
Gold with polished lip
Black with polished lip
Flat Black

Very Panasport or Minilite like. A classic look.

Might be very good for street use, autocross or track.

Use 225/50-15 or 225/45-15 for the performance oriented.

For street use in 225/50-15 at tirerack.com
(Ultra High Performance Summer tires)
Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 $133 each 240 tread A traction 22 pounds W rated
BF Goodrich g-Force Sport $78 each 340 tread AA traction 23 lbs V rated
Yokohama AVS ES100 $90 280 tread AA traction 22 pounds V rated
(High Performance All Season tires)
Kumho Ecsta AST $53 each 400 tread A traction 21 pounds H rated

For those that want light rims from Rota for competition use, seems like for now the Slipstreams are pretty good in 15" or 16" sizes.

Has anyone actually tried to fit these to a MINI? I have some TD PR 1.2's with an ET30 and its a VERY tight fit... I had to trim the fenders and fender liners to get it to fit at all.. I can't imagine trying to squeeze a 15X8 in there!

If anyone has done this, PLEASE send out some pics... I'd really love ot see them!

I've had a set of 30mm offset 15x8's on the front of my Mini with Hankook Z212's in 225/45/15. Every suspension is different though, so, if anyone is wanting to go with 15x8's, they might want to have a selection of spacers available during the initial fit. Thats what I did. Its definitely possible to fit them, its just a matter of what the exact specs of ones suspension is in regards to camber, lowered, coilover spring diameter, tire height etc....

These are great looking wheels, but the Konig Rewinds that just arrived on my doorsetp today look almost EXACTLY the same and were quite a bit lighter on the wallet.

How much is that?

I cannot imagine them being "quite a bit lighter" on the wallet, from my experience, the Rota's are probably one of the best valued purchases I have seen for our Mini's.

I didn't even know Konig made the rewind in 15x8, where can you get those and how much shipped were they excluding any tires? Or, are you just talking about 15x7's?

Either way though, for me personally, I still like the way the Rota's look, they have a shorter, slightly fatter apearing spoke that gives the wheel a bit more aggressive appearance IMHO. I guess if the Rewinds were a substantial amount less, I might spring for them, but, I can't imagine them being much less if they are a 15x8(or 15x7 for that matter). Heck, the Rotas as it is are almost free! lol

Below is a comparison, see the different shape/length apearing spokes, the deeper lip on the Rota's which really makes the wheels look completely different IMO. The Konigs look, to me, more like a stock wheel compared to the Rota's. Of course, thats just my opinion, i'm sure there will be differing opinions. :-)

is the 15 x 7 in 30 or 35 offset a good fit for a street rim? No rubbing issues?

Most likely planning on a HP AS 205/50/15. (don't mind a few extra revs for a little more jump off the line...)

thanks!

Do you know if this photo shows what the RB will look like with the offset that will fit our MINI's?

THe Rewind looked great in the offsets for 240 Z's and such, not as hot in the offset for MINIs....thanks!!!

What is your suspension? Stock or Lowered?

15x7 in +35mm offset likely to be fine. Smaller tire will help clearance but even 225/50-15 will likely fit.

Confirm this with Alex@tirerack.com.

On the 15x7's, most likely the 35mm will work OK, there is only one way to find out though. :-) The SSR comps in 15x7.5 with 42mm offset work perfect, so, the 7's in 35mm offset should be about the same on the outside as far a fitment is concerned. With that offset, you definitely won't have an issues on the inside.

Rota 15x8 weights

Jessica at 18 racing sauid that the 15x8 RBs with 30 offset are 16 lbs.

According to her, the same size in Slipstream, but with 40 mm offset, is 14.8 lbs.

Bone Stock 06 MCS Suspention. Will not be lowering, just adding a Rear sway at some point in the near future.

Thanks for the info, you too, OasisT!!!

You should be fine. Stock suspension gives lots of clearance.
225/50-15 is not so small so speedo error is less but it's still a little less than stock sized tires so you get some gearing advantage and a wider tire.

If you like lighter weight and smaller size then 205/50-15 will work but the tire itself will look small for the wheel wells.

A rear sway bar would be definitely good. Adjustable 19mm (soft or middle setting) is fine for street use. If you have a more modified MCS then 22mm bar is possible.
