Just throwing in my .02, not that I am anything special...
Currently in a 2003 JB MC with SS+, front camber is obviously fixed and rear is the max it can go while still being even (exact numbers escape me at the moment). Currently toting SSR Competition-knockoff wheels size 16x6.5 wrapped in well used V700's at 225-50/16. Tires are so well used that they have been flipped on the rim and are soon to be replaced with V710's.
Here's the kicker: There's a guy in HS flogging a 2004 Civic SI with Koni Yellows and 215/40/16 V710's and he's kicking my butt by about 2 seconds each event with him first, me second.
All things being equal, I feel like my cooper should be faster. All things aren't equal... he's a much better driver. I've been competing for just over 2 years, he's going on 8 I believe. He's attended schools, test and tunes, track days and has done a lot of reading... I have not. I only get 1 event in per month at most, and the wife drives the car daily... I only get a few hours behind the wheel of it each week.
Personally, I know that my challenge is driver experience, which I sorely need.
I purchased the MINI used from an autocrosser who did quite well in it, and after taking his advice I'll pass it on.. Toss a set of stickies on it and get out there with it as often as possible.

For a cooper to use 215/40-17 tires would put you out of stock class. Either STS or FSP class depending on what other upgrades you have. These classes are much more competitive. Stick with a stock class if possible.

I know, The shortshifter and cai are brand new. The 17" rims are heavier and tires are more expensive thats why im trying to get rid of them. I havn't had the opportunity to run sts yet but this following week I will =] Im hoping for the best
edit: oh and no sparco seats haha, the shiftnob is bumped down for somereason..
