I am running 6uls 15x9 front and 15x8 rear. Rivals 225/45 all around. The rears could use a 2mm spacer for a little more clearance to the rear trailing arms. The fronts need a 15-20mm spacer to clear the brakes on my car. There is quite a bit of poke on the front so you need to be careful with suspension travel as well.
The 8" wheels fit the 225 section tires about right and the 9" wheels have a bit of stretch.
I don't think there are any 245 options on Rivals/RE-71s. I would probably switch to 245s at least in front.
Hankook RS4 should be coming out soon. I'm sure with time to spare for Nationals 2017. They'll have a 245/40. But that's running really small diameter now. Smaller than 225/45

1st gear useless, 2nd will top out at the airfield we sometimes use. Car has enough power to move as is.
I like the extra power from lower gearing. Our courses are too tight for me to hit rev limiter, they typically run 2 events per year we can get into 3rd but gearing wont matter you are still going to get into 3rd with taller tires

I'll try it again. Maybe it was just that course and I didn't give it a chance.
Perhaps 205/50 on a 15X7 would be better for a little more diameter at the expense of sidewall flex as opposed to the current 15X8.
I heard Wilcox ran 15s on his STX Mini even tho its a JCW. Those brakes clear?
Got my 15x9's mounted on the car. Tire clearance is not a concern, but with a 12mm spacer, things are still pretty tight in the back. Very close to the trailing arm. Front with coilovers I have tons of clearance.
Man, R53s just seem to pull off the smaller diameter better.
Also how are you not hitting fenders with that amount of poke?
How much camber do you have?

front camber is at 2.7 degrees, rear is just under 2(non-adjustable right now)
I'm running a fairly stiff setup, but combine the short uptravel these cars have with a big front bar, and the wheel honestly doesn't move up in the fender opening a lot...
it makes them ride LOW too, look how low that front air deflector thing is
I rubbed the airdam a lot on the 205's, but have a little more clearance with the 225's... I picked up a replacement for when it gets too ratty for 20 bucks at the junkyard.
One of our main spots for autox is BB&T Center (Panthers Stadium) where it's full of V dips in the parking lot. Stock Vettes and 911s always hit their air dams.
I'd definitely take out a fender there using your wheel/tire set up. I have fixed camber plates in front. Aligned at -2.2F -1.5R. Going to see if there's any minuscule amount I can add in front and I'll add to rear accordingly. Ideally I want -3F -2R.
Also I'm on Koni Yellows and Swift springs (4.5K F 5.5K R) so it's not particularly stiff. Stock sway bars.

Wow, you are on the exact setup I am about to order. I was not expecting -2.2F camber with only the 0.7 drop. Did you run the plates with the stock height springs and if so, what was the camber then, if I may ask. Also, I thought I had read that you DD the car as well, how is the wear at 2.2?
I have the Hsport Comp RSB, so that will be a slight difference.

I've stopped DDing it. Bought a 1.8T Jetta and have been using that since Jan.
Camber wear wasn't bad at all while I did DD. I have Ireland Eng fixed camber plates up front. It's really a 1.1" drop that gets reduced to 1" with the plate. It works well enough; the plate has a hole for the Koni adjuster. I have new Eibach adjustable plates laying around but no hole.
I'll try it again. Maybe it was just that course and I didn't give it a chance.

Actually I have a Mini Cooper S non-jcw with the JCW tuning kit option. This allows for the TCE performance 11.75" Front Brake kit which easily fits most 15's. I'm running a 15x9 Front and 15x7 rear. For 2017 I'll be running a 245 40 15 up front and 225 45 15 in the rear. My tire choice is the Rival 1.5, at least up front. I'll test the 1.5 in the rear as well as the 2016 Rival S. My front springs are only 5" long which allows the wheel/tire to sit under the bottom spring perch to allow for extra inside clearance. I have a 6" spring now that I'm going to possible test fit to see if I can make it work since on some courses where there are big bumps I seem to possibly be either running out of spring travel or running out of shock travel(which would require raising the front a bit or using longer springs) which causes bouncing. I'm running the Storm S1 15x9 up front in a 35mm offset but am also using a 10mm spacer. I have the extended stud kit to allow for enough threads since I'm using a spacer. Anyway sorry for the long post, just throwing some info out there..... :-)

Thanks for letting me know. I have some 15X8s I can use. Unfortunately both of my 15X9's are Miata hub spec so they're 2MM too small to go on Mini.
