Man, that boxster was six seconds faster over a roughly one minute course. That's HUGE!. Will be interesting to see how MINIs fare in STU in other local events

 

Gollum is nowhere near the STU rules limit - a Quaife and some good coil-overs are what's missing, 'cause 9" rims and at least 245 tires seem hard to do. . The e-Diff and the Sport Suspension springs with Bilstein B8 shocks are good. Ride height is stock.

I am not a fast enough driver to reach the car's' limits in optimum fashion. If I can get Brian Levesque to share it with me, then I will know. The car is better than I am for sure.

So be aware of the nature of the data....

Nice job. I took mine out for my first time this last weekend as well, ended up 35 out of 60 Raw and 27th PAX. Definitely have a lot of room for improvement and learning on this car. I think I could of won my class (DS) of 3 if I wouldn't have picked up a cone on my fastest runs each time (we did a mini pro style with 2 courses and 3 runs each course). The class winner was 19 Raw and 10th PAX. I feel like the mini is oddly classed in STU and DS, stuck in classes with a bunch of RWD or AWD cars.

What pressures are you running? I was running 37-38 up front (chalk marks would scrub off to the edge) and ~40 in the rear. Car wouldnt rotate much for me, but it didnt push really bad into the corners either. I started at 35 in the front and 37 in the rear and kept going up, I felt like this was a good pressure as anything above this and the car would start to understeer and below this I was getting too much sidewall flex. I'm on 205/55/16s btw. I really need a rear sway bar.

that is a lot of pressure for re71, are you camber limited? On my stx car I ran -2.8 up front and was able to get the pressure down to low 30's the grip was much better.

I switched to SMF and have not looked at STU, out here there is no way to be competitive in stu it would be a 3+ second gap it's really sad they put the turbo mini's there

 

Point taken, and perhaps less is more. The car has -2.1 out front, and the 8" rims support the 225s very nicely, so it's worth exploring.

Maybe it is due to my tire height? I am on 205/55/16s. I chalk my tires before every run and I tried 35. I ended up scuffing below the the triangle on the sidewalls. I didn't see a reason to go below that psi as I assumed I would see more roll/sidewall damage. I am camber limited right now in the front to stock (basically 0) as I dont think there are crash bolts and I am in DS. I am running ~ -2 in the rear which I believe is stock and slight toe out in the front. I wanted more by my arm was seized up and we couldn't get it to budge. Once I replace that I will probably dial in a little more toe out.

 

Ahh I figured you were setup for stx, at least -2.5 up front. I can't afford to autocross on 0 front camber
