Thanks to my sponsors, QuickSilver Exhaust, MiniDoMore.com, Way Motorworks, SoloRacer.com and Oasis Tan, we were able to take the win at the SCCA National Tour - Western States Championship this past weekend in Fountain Colorado/Pikes Peak International Raceway. The battle in D-Stock was between myself and Mark Smith(numerous Prosolo/National Tour wins) in his 2008 Audi Quatro TT. Mark has that car really set up with HUGE 285/30/18 Hoosier A6 rubber and fantastic handling along with his AWD and 250hp. We actually swapped the lead a total of 5 times between all of our runs so it was ultra exciting. On the final run, I was trailing by 0.3 seconds and was able to drop 0.5 seconds to take a 0.231 lead and the win for the weekend. On the previous 3 meetings(all National Tours/Prosolos) against the TT, we had lost by 0.059 seconds, 0.1 seconds and 0.7 seconds at each of those events where we took 2nd place, so, it feels especially good to have this success going into the National Championship event in 4 weeks. Amazingly, at this event, D-Stock was quicker than EVERY stock class with the exception of SS which beat us by a mere 0.2 seconds! ;-)
